Job Summary

Visa Cash App Racing Bulls F1 Team is seeking a Senior Suspension Design Engineer. This role involves designing and developing structural mechanical and composite suspension components, ensuring they meet packaging and specification constraints. The engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end development of subsystems, collaborating with internal and external partners, and leading innovation in a competitive F1 environment. The position requires a proactive approach to design, quality management, and team development.

Must Have

  • Derive detailed design specifications for subsystems based on vehicle-level requirements
  • Execute detailed design activities, including hand calculations and high-quality detail drawings
  • Monitor technology developments to ensure design standards remain state-of-the-art
  • Prepare and issue documentation for component testing and trackside operations
  • Manage actions to resolve quality issues during production
  • Collaborate with concept, vehicle performance, and aerodynamics teams
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers and technical partners
  • Provide remote support from the factory (Operations Room) during selected race or track events
  • Demonstrate flexibility in attendance and approach to work, based on role and project needs
  • Foster teamwork by maintaining and developing strong relationships
  • Mentor junior designers and oversee external design resources
  • Promote a positive team culture and encourage continuous improvement
  • Maintain professionalism at all times and proactively promote a positive image

Good to Have

  • Top level Motorsport and in particular Formula 1 experience

We are looking for a brilliant Senior Suspension Design Engineer to be responsible for designing to meet packaging and specification constraints, and creating detailed design of structural mechanical and composite components.

They will also ensure end to end responsibility for the development of subsystems and components and act as the department’s representative in all communications with internal and external development partners within your area of responsibility.

Collaboration, Performance & Operations

  • Collaborate with concept, vehicle performance, and aerodynamics teams to maximize the impact of suspension and driver controls on overall car performance;
  • Develop and manage relationships with suppliers and technical partners;
  • Provide remote support from the factory (Operations Room) during selected race or track events;
  • Demonstrate flexibility in attendance and approach to work, based on role and project needs.

Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline;
  • Extensive automotive design experience in suspension and driver controls at a senior level;
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken;
  • Strong knowledge of metallic materials and associated treatments;
  • Solid understanding of composite materials and their manufacturing processes;
  • Proven ability to manage tasks effectively under high-pressure conditions;
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX CAD software preferred; equivalent experience with other CAD applications acceptable;
  • Ability to thoroughly scope and define new tasks;
  • Clear and concise communication skills;
  • Demonstrated initiative and innovative thinking;
  • Strong collaborative skills for working with internal teams, external suppliers, and technical partners.
