Job Summary

The VFX Crew Manager oversees and coordinates their team of VFX artists. They ensure efficient communication, manage daily operations, crew management, show assignments and conflicts; supporting the show teams in delivering top-notch visual effects. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, technical know-how, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Description

The VFX Crew Manager oversees and coordinates their team of VFX artists. They ensure efficient communication, manage daily operations, crew management, show assignments and conflicts; supporting the show teams in delivering top-notch visual effects. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, technical know-how, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

We’ll keep you busy with:

  • Working closely with the show production, project development teams, and the Head of Resourcing to plan and allocate appropriate resources, ensuring optimal crew deployment to maximise efficiency and maintain show schedules.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of available talent and their skill sets.
  • Line managing the crew in your teams, conduct regular performance reviews alongside HOD’s and providing mentoring and career development guidance.
  • Managing lifecycle events for your team; onboarding, contract changes, salary and promotion actions and offboarding as required.
  • Ensuring the team has access to the necessary tools, software, and equipment escalating requests to tech where needed.
  • Monitoring needs for hiring within your teams, working with the recruitment team and the Head of Resourcing to facilitate.
  • Keep crew scheduling software up to date with adapting needs on a weekly basis.
  • Work closely with department HODs on balancing skills within their disciplines. Flagging training needs to the HOD’s and People team.
  • Be the first point of contact for artists absence, escalating any ongoing concerns to the HOD and People team where needed.

  • Ensure timely reporting of crew scheduling data to avoid major scheduling conflicts and ensure crew are efficiently utilised.

Experience needed:

  • Experience managing a team.
  • Basic understanding of contract and employment law.
  • Proficient in office tools such as Excel and resource management software.
  • Experience in coordinating VFX projects and Shotgrid a bonus.

Hours and location

Our core hours are 09:30am to 18:30pm, or 10:00am to 19:00 pm Monday to Friday. We have a great studio in the 20th arrondissement, where our artists are based. We operate a Hybrid working policy where you will be required to attend the three days a week.
