Wake Up News Anchor

Nexstar Media Group is seeking a dynamic Wake Up News Anchor to deliver trusted, compelling news across broadcast, digital, and social platforms. The role involves presenting, writing, and editing accurate stories, collaborating with producers, reporting from the field, and engaging audiences through community events and social media. Candidates must uphold journalistic integrity and respond quickly to breaking news.

Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in news reporting or anchoring
• Exceptional on-air presence and strong communication skills
• Excellent news judgment and deep knowledge of local, national, and global issues
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire team members
• Skilled in multitasking, meeting deadlines, and thriving under pressure
• Tech-savvy with proficiency in newsroom systems and digital tools
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and breaking news situations

What You’ll Do

• Present news and content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms with clarity and authenticity.
• Uphold the highest standards of journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Write and deliver stories that are accurate, concise, and engaging.
• Collaborate with producers and team members to shape impactful newscasts.
• Contribute to writing, editing, research, and content development.
• Report from the field and conduct interviews as assigned.
• Respond quickly to breaking news and urgent newsroom situations.
• Represent the station at community events and promotional activities.
• Engage audiences through involvement in WIVB+ and creation of social media videos to expand reach and brand presence.
• Take on special projects and additional duties as needed.
• Salary - $70,000 to $80,000

What We’re Looking For
