Job Summary

Nine is Australia’s largest locally owned media company, offering unique experiences and opportunities across its trusted television, radio, digital, and publishing brands. This newly created full-time role as Head of Communications (Corporate) reports to the Director, Regulatory, Public Affairs & Communications. The successful candidate will manage a small team, protect Nine’s reputation, and develop/implement strategies to communicate Nine’s growth strategy to all stakeholders, including providing senior counsel to the Chair, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team.

Must Have

  • Develop, embed, and champion a compelling corporate narrative for Nine.
  • Provide senior communications counsel to the Chair, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Lead communications strategy and execution for major corporate announcements.
  • Work closely with key executives and investor relations on all financial results including the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • Develop and execute media and communications strategies for Nine's advocacy positions on key policy issues.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the corporate communications team.
  • Leverage audience analytics to measure communication effectiveness and predict reputational risks.
  • Extensive experience in a senior corporate affairs or communications role (external and internal).
  • Proven experience as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing integrated communication strategies for a large, complex, and high-profile organisation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations, issues management, and financial communications.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory, Public Affairs & Communications, we are seeking a highly experienced, well organised candidate to join Nine in this newly created role as Head of Communications (Corporate).

Managing a small team of external and internal communications specialists, the successful candidate will carry responsibility for protecting Nine’s reputation as well as developing and implementing strategies to successfully communicate Nine’s growth strategy.

Day to day you will:

  • Develop, embed, and champion a compelling corporate narrative for Nine, ensuring the company strategy is understood by all stakeholders.
  • Provide senior communications counsel to the Chair, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
  • Lead communications strategy and execution for major corporate announcements,
  • Work closely with key executives and investor relations on all financial results including the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
  • Develop and execute media and communications strategies for Nine's advocacy positions on key policy issues such as media regulation, AI and digital platforms.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the corporate communications team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Leverage audience analytics (e.g., social engagement, sentiment analysis) to measure communication effectiveness and predict reputational risks.

Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in a senior corporate affairs or communications role, with experience in both external and internal communications.
  • Proven experience as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives, providing strategic counsel on complex and sensitive matters.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing integrated communication strategies for a large, complex, and high-profile organisation, preferably ASX-listed.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to distill complex information into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in media relations, issues management, and financial communications.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
