Job Description

The University of Auckland Business School is seeking two full-time Professional Teaching Fellows for Business Communication (Undergraduate). These fixed-term appointments of 36 months involve designing, developing, and delivering embedded business communication teaching to improve student learning outcomes and graduate employability. The roles include collaborative pedagogical support, implementing culturally responsive teaching practices, and supporting assessment redesign. The salary range is $103,717 – $125,554 per annum.
Good To Have:
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with international students at tertiary level.
Must Have:
  • Hold a postgraduate qualification in English, language, communication, or a related discipline.
  • Be effective teachers with relevant tertiary teaching experience in language teaching, academic literacies, or communication skills.
  • Possess a strong understanding of approaches to developing academic and professional communication skills.
  • Possess a strong understanding of interactive and experiential learning techniques.
  • Be familiar with conventions in both academic and business writing (e.g. citations, structures and style).
  • Have experience in instructional and assessment design including scaffolded and formative assessment.
  • Demonstrate a high level of sensitivity to diverse cultures.
  • Show a strong commitment to education and the development of professionals.
  • Possess excellent communication, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Business School is seeking to appoint two Professional Teaching Fellows – Business Communication (Undergraduate). Working closely with, and reporting to, the Team Lead, these positions will design, develop, and deliver embedded business communication teaching that improves student learning outcomes and graduate employability across undergraduate programmes. This includes collaborative pedagogical support to academic staff, implementing culturally responsive teaching practices for diverse student populations, and supporting assessment redesign initiatives that embed communication skills within disciplinary content.

These are full-time (40 hours per week), fixed-term appointments of 36 months.

We are looking to appoint PTFs at Step 1–3.

The salary range for this role is $103,717 – $125,554 per annum, depending on the level of appointment.

The successful appointees will hold a postgraduate qualification in English, language, communication, or a related discipline. Qualifications in other fields may be considered depending on relevant expertise.
