This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Java 17 / Spring Boot 3 microservices with a focus on quality. The Automation Senior Engineer will implement and run JUnit-based test coverage, utilizing Datadog for observability and insights. They will contribute to CI/CD workflows using GitLab Pipelines, drive quality-first engineering, and use SQL to validate backend logic. The role also includes defining testing strategies, participating in code reviews, mentoring junior members, and working in a cross-functional team. The engineer will suggest and drive improvements across automation, test strategy, and engineering processes.
Must have:
  • 3+ years of Java backend development experience (Java 11+; Java 17 preferred).
  • Proficiency with Spring Boot 2/3, RESTful APIs, and microservice architecture.
  • Solid hands-on experience with unit testing (JUnit) and integration testing.
  • Proven experience working with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab.
  • SQL experience for verifying business logic and working with test data.
Good to have:
  • Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with test evidence generation and reporting tools
  • Experience in performance testing and monitoring
  • Contributions to testing strategies or test automation frameworks
  • Involvement in knowledge sharing, workshops, or mentoring sessions

Role Description:

Are you a passionate Java engineer with a strong foundation in backend development, an eye for quality, and a desire to drive excellence in testing and delivery? We're building a forward-thinking team and looking for a motivated individual ready to take ownership, mentor others, and grow alongside us.

This is not just another coding role — it’s an opportunity to build robust services, champion engineering excellence, and actively contribute to test strategy, code quality, and delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java 17 / Spring Boot 3 microservices with strong quality standards.

  • Implement and run JUnit-based test coverage, integrated with Datadog for observability and insights.

  • Drive quality-first engineering: build with testability, reliability, and maintainability in mind from day one.

  • Contribute to and improve our CI/CD workflows using GitLab Pipelines, ensuring fast, safe, and traceable releases.

  • Use your SQL knowledge to validate backend logic and contribute to functional test cases.

  • Take part in defining testing strategies: from unit to integration to system-level testing.

  • Actively participate in code reviews and peer review sessions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Mentor junior members and act as a technical quality champion, supporting best practices and a shared responsibility for quality.

  • Work in a cross-functional team, contributing to design sessions, standups, and retrospectives.

  • Suggest and drive improvements across automation, test strategy, and engineering processes.

Candidate Profile:

  • 3+ years of experience in Java backend development (Java 11+; Java 17 preferred).

  • Proficiency with Spring Boot 2/3, RESTful APIs, and microservice architecture.

  • Solid hands-on experience with unit testing (JUnit), mocking frameworks, and integration testing.

  • Exposure to observability tools like Datadog for tracing and error insights is a strong plus.

  • Proven experience working with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab, with a mindset for continuous delivery.

  • SQL experience for verifying business logic and working with test data (PostgreSQL or Oracle preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of software quality assurance practices, with a passion for writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you thrive in a team and support others to succeed.

Nice to Have
