Job Description

The Benefits Business Consultant will leverage their expertise in Housing & Council Tax Benefits to support clients both remotely and on-site. Responsibilities include delivering training to new and existing customers, providing consultancy services like software configuration and data validation, leading data cleansing activities, creating training materials, conducting seminars and webinars, producing bespoke reports, supporting software implementation projects, investigating client issues, and developing familiarity with system integrations. This role requires delivering high levels of service and contributing to successful outcomes for clients across the UK. This position also includes participation in a bonus scheme for high performance.
Must have:
  • 3+ years experience with Housing & Council Tax Benefits software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK.

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting a Benefits Business Consultant to join our growing consultancy team. In this role, you will bring deep expertise in Housing & Council Tax Benefits and use your problem-solving and leadership skills to support clients both remotely and on-site.

You could be working on anything from a simple account fix to a full-scale software conversion. Regardless of the task, you'll be expected to deliver the highest levels of service and contribute to successful outcomes for our clients.

As a key member of the Professional Services team, you will act as a trusted partner to customers across the UK, providing expert training, consultancy, and ongoing support on the best-practice use of MRI’s Revenues & Benefits software.

 

As part of our Professional Services team, you’ll also be eligible for participation in our Professional Services Bonus Scheme, which rewards high performance and successful project delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored training to both new and existing customers on MRI’s Benefits applications.

  • Provide on-site and remote consultancy services, including software configuration and data validation.

  • Lead or support data cleansing activities, data extraction for Freedom of Information requests, and management return preparation.

  • Create and maintain high-quality, customer-facing training materials and documentation.

  • Deliver seminars and webinars, particularly for end-of-year processing and subsidy completion.

  • Produce bespoke reports using your understanding of system architecture and database structures.

  • Support software implementation and conversion projects.

  • Investigate client-reported issues in detail, providing solutions or effective workarounds.

  • Develop familiarity with system integrations and interface specifications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with Housing & Council Tax Benefits software (ideally MRI/Academy/Capita One).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • A flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated approach.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

  • Comfortable working independently and using your own initiative.

  • Confident in building strong, lasting client relationships.

  • Willingness to travel across the UK for client engagements.

  • A technically minded outlook, with a solid grasp of database structures and reporting tools.
