Job Description

Spliced Inc. is seeking an experienced Contract Animator for a fully remote, 6-month role in the UK. The role involves creating visually compelling and responsive gameplay animations for a stylized AAA title, focusing on player character movement and mechanics. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of shipping titles, expertise in keyframe and motion capture animation, and a strong understanding of modern gameplay animation pipelines, particularly with Unreal Engine 5 and Maya.
Must have:
  • Create visually compelling animation content, focused on player character movement and mechanics.
  • Deliver high quality assets through keyframe animation or motion capture editing and enhancing.
  • Collaborate across departments to create benchmark animation assets based on Art & Style guides.
  • Provide technical guidance and feedback to outsource animators.
  • Collaborate with production to ensure assets are implemented in game and on schedule to technical specifications.
  • Proven track record of delivering exciting and responsive gameplay animations.
  • Shipped titles under your belt.
  • Demonstrable experience with mocap (motion capture) and keyframe animation.
  • Thorough knowledge of modern gameplay animation pipelines, game engine tools and technical limitations.
  • Dynamic showreel showcasing high-level skill in posing, body mechanics, timing and weight.
  • Expert in Maya.
  • Experience in MotionBuilder and Unreal 5.
  • Ability to understand and independently tackle complex animation challenges.
  • Skilled in development of complex player mechanics animation, and ability to refine and iterate to release quality.
  • Excellent communicator, with experience mentoring other animators to achieve quality results.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5 is preferred.

We are Spliced Inc. and we’re looking for a Contract Animator.

The Role:

Making games is what we love and we're passionate about what we do. As an experienced Animator, you’ll bring with you a proven track record of delivering exciting and responsive gameplay animations that feel as good as they look. A strong spirit of teamwork will be second nature and you’ll be at home working on a stylized AAA title. Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Animation, Art & Design Leads, to create visually compelling animation content, focused on player character movement and mechanics.
  • Deliver high quality assets through keyframe animation or motion capture editing and enhancing.
  • Collaborate across departments to create benchmark animation assets based on Art & Style guides and provide technical guidance and feedback to outsource animators.
  • Collaborate with production to ensure that benchmark and outsource animation assets are implemented in game and on schedule to technical specifications.

About You:

Our title is unique and we’re looking for someone who doesn’t just connect with their craft, but also connects with our game. You’ll have shipped titles under your belt but more than this, you’ll be a natural motivator that’s excited to be a part of a team that’s geared up to creating a world class title. You’ll bring demonstrable experience with mocap (motion capture) and keyframe animation. We use UE5 so experience with Unreal is preferred. Furthermore:

  • A thorough knowledge of modern gameplay animation pipelines, game engine tools and technical limitations.
  • You’ll be able to demonstrate or have a dynamic showreel showcasing high-level skill in posing, body mechanics, timing and weight.
  • Expert in Maya.
