The Digital Effects (DFX) Supervisor is the internal creative and technical lead responsible for overseeing all VFX departments on a show within Eyeline. This role ensures high-quality, consistent visual effects delivery by translating client vision into executable strategies, managing internal supervisors and teams, and maintaining cohesion across 2D and 3D workflows. The DFX Supervisor is focused on internal showrunning: guiding execution, aligning departments, and ensuring milestones are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Creative & Technical Leadership
- Translate the VFX Supervisor’s creative direction into actionable plans for internal teams.
- Provide feedback and approvals across sequences/shots, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Guide technical decisions on pipeline, FX methodologies, and rendering strategies.
- Internal Show-running
- Oversee the daily work of CG, Comp, departments on the show to ensure smooth execution.
- Anticipate and resolve workflow issues across departments.
- Balance creative ambitions with schedule, budget, and technical feasibility.
- Project Health
- Identify creative, technical, or resourcing risks early and partner with producers to mitigate them.
- Ensure delivery of highest-quality work to the client through rigorous internal reviews.
- Align show decisions with Eyeline broader operational goals.
- Operational Alignment
- Partner with Heads of 2D/3D, pipeline, and TDs to maintain global standards while adapting workflows for show needs.
- Implement strategies that improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability across projects.
- Monitor progress against milestones and escalate risks early.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor and develop leads and supervisors, reinforcing standards of supervision.
- Act as the anchor of the show supervision team, ensuring collaboration and cohesion.
- Represent the supervisory team in communication with production.
Qualifications
- Minimum ten (10) years of VFX post-production experience
- Previous experience as a CG or Comp Supervisor, Senior Department Supervisor, or Sequence Supervisor on a minimum of three (3) to five (5) high-end feature films
- Excellent creative eye and aesthetic judgment
- Ability to sell creative solutions and ideas to clients and VFX Supervisors
- Ability to reduce complex problems to their most simple solutions
- Thorough understanding of the complete VFX pipeline
- Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Expert in Maya, Nuke, Houdini, and/or Clarisse, and proficient in other industry-standard software

- Strong creative eye with a deep sense of composition, realism, and cinematic language
- Broad technical expertise across both 2D and 3D workflows (compositing, lighting, FX, simulation, rendering, environments, animation)
- Proven ability to lead supervisors and senior artists, inspiring trust and accountability
- Excellent communication skills; able to “translate” between creative direction and technical execution
- Skilled in decision-making: balancing creative vision with production constraints
- Big-picture mindset: always aligning work with story, visual impact, and overall project health
