The Job

As Director, Market Intelligence, you will ensure that Warner Bros. Games understands the holistic market and competitive landscape for our current and future business. Serving as the architect for competitive and market insights your role is to analyze and distill macro and market trends, competitor activities and our own results to enable smarter decision-making.

The Director will serve as a central point of contact for publishing and studio teams working closely with Franchise Planning, Central Product Management, Research and Analytics to serve as a central source of market intelligence across the console, PC and mobile game businesses.

The Daily

  • Profile the overall market and competitive environment, providing insights and recommendations that support strategic decision-making and content for use in internal and external presentations by senior leadership.
  • Tap into market trends and adjacent industries to ensure the necessary future forward analysis joining together our own/competitor successes, as well as learnings from the past and present.
  • Create and update comprehensive industry and competitor models including - but not limited to - market share, growth projections and trends, and market forces.
  • Perform financial, statistical, and qualitative data analysis of markets and competitors.
  • Perform thorough, systematic analysis of key industry trends; the general social economic and political environment; legal and regulatory issues; customers; current and potential competitors.
  • Develop and manage intelligence tools to support collection and dissemination of competitive information, establishing a regular cadence of reporting.
  • Generate publishing recommendations based on a combination of internal and external data sets related to game genres, and IPs owned by WBD.
  • Lead cross-functional competitive benchmarking efforts, establishing baseline analysis and working with subject matter experts to more deeply understand strategies and tactics of market leaders. Create in-depth competitor tear downs, including current strategies, expansion plans, market position and, product assessments.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships and business partnerships with external market intelligence partners.
  • Manage a team of analysts to guide modeling and analysis across large data sets. Create frameworks for distilling data into concrete recommendations.
  • Attend relevant industry events and conferences to learn from the market first-hand about the latest trends and best practices in the industry.
  • Develop & maintain forecasting models to anticipate market trends
  • Act with the highest level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of designated markets and trends through reading reports, market research, data manipulation and financial modeling and analysis.

 The Essentials

  • 10+ years experience in a consumer / market insights, competitive insights, product marketing or related role
  • This role will require strong analytical skills and independent thinking and judgment abilities.
  • Solid researcher-ability to locate information that is relevant, complete and consequential
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong cross-functional relationship skills, to gather, organize and apply competitive intelligence
  • Ability to reconcile large, disparate and conflicting datasets to draw out insights
  • Ability to work independently
  • Deep competitive understanding of the game industry.
  • Proven ability to bring structure and clarity to highly complex initiatives..  
  • Effective communication and presentation skills required.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills coupled with financial acumen and commercial instincts are needed.
  • High level of proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.

The Nice to Haves

  • Prior experience coordinating major programs across matrixed resources is desired.
  • Prior global experience and perspective is desired.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $136,500.00 - $253,500.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
