Job Description

Morning Brew Inc. is seeking an Editor to lead and shape coverage for Tech Brew, a B2C publication covering daily tech news from AI to wearables. This role involves setting editorial strategy, managing day-to-day newsletter production, and mentoring a team of writers and copy editors. The ideal candidate will blend strategic thinking with hands-on editing to help readers understand the rapidly changing tech world.
Must Have:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Tech Brew newsletter production process.
  • Assign and approve stories, edit pieces, and write content.
  • Lead content strategy for Tech Brew’s relaunch.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of writers and copy editors.
  • Generate, develop, and execute ideas for non-newsletter products and special editorial projects.
  • Enforce Morning Brew Inc.’s editorial guidelines, tone, and voice.
  • Support optimization of existing content processes and establish new ones.
  • At least 5 years of top and line-editing experience, preferably covering tech or business news.
  • Experience managing writers.
  • Ability to write in the Morning Brew Inc.’s style (engaging, informative, clever).
  • Flexible worker motivated by strategic, long-term thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Ability to intentionally experiment with, iterate on, and make hard decisions about new product offerings.
  • Excellent communication skills with a mindset for collaboration.
  • Ability to operate in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.

OVERVIEW

We’re on the hunt for an Editor to lead and shape coverage for Tech Brew, one of Morning Brew’s largest consumer publications. This is a rare chance to both set editorial strategy and roll up your sleeves on the daily newsletter production. If you love blending strategy with hands-on editing, and if mentoring talented writers energizes you, this role is for you.

Tech Brew is relaunching as a B2C publication, covering all the relevant daily news for the tech curious, from AI to wearables to Elon (sometimes). The newsletter will be a combination of original reporting and aggregation, all in service of the mission to help readers make better decisions and understand the rapidly changing world around them.

Morning Brew Inc is the most engaging business media company in the world with over 20 owned and operated multimedia brands reaching a monthly audience of 350 Million+ cross platform with a focus on both consumer and professional content. We have been building our brand umbrella and product suite out for years, and now have a hugely diverse and successful products suite across newsletter, onsite, live and virtual events, podcast, video, creator and social.

Our positions are remote hybrid; however, we have a strong preference for employees who can work from our Morning Brew HQ in NYC.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the Tech Brew newsletter production process, including assigning/approving stories, editing pieces, and writing.
  • Help lead content strategy for Tech Brew’s relaunch
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of one writer and one copy editor.
  • Generate, develop, and execute ideas for non-newsletter products and other special editorial projects.
  • Write stories if and as needed.
  • Enforce Morning Brew Inc.’s editorial guidelines, editing content for high-level substance, Brew tone and voice, and standard copy.
  • Support optimization of existing content processes and establish new ones where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 5 years of top and line-editing experience, preferably covering tech or business news.
  • Experience managing writers.
  • Ability to write in the Morning Brew Inc’s style (engaging, informative, clever)
  • Flexible worker who is equally motivated by strategic, long-term thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Ability to intentionally experiment with, iterate on, and make hard decisions about new product offerings.
  • Excellent communication skills with a mindset for collaboration.
  • Ability to operate in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.

COMPENSATION: $105,000-$110,000 *Final offers for this job will be made within the parameters of the salary range provided, commensurate with experience. Total offer package to include benefits highlighted under our perks section below.
