Job Details

Company Description

Finding solutions to climate change is the priority of the 21st century, and involves switching to low-carbon energy. At Assystem, our mission is to accelerate the energy transition worldwide. To achieve this, our 8,000 Switchers combine their historical expertise in engineering and project management with digital technologies.

Present in 12 countries (Europe, Middle East, Asia), we work on the production and distribution of low-carbon electricity, through the development of nuclear and renewable energies. We also participate in the modernization of electricity grids and the electrification of uses, through hydrogen to decarbonize the transport and industry sectors.

Job Description

Your future team

Since government announcements for the construction of new EPRs and the emergence of alternative solutions of smaller capacities (SMR, AMR), the nuclear sector is experiencing a new era of growth accompanied by new technological challenges.

Under the responsibility of our project manager, you will strengthen our teams in charge of control-command projects for new nuclear "game changer" actors who are developing "disruptive" technologies around Small and Advanced Modular Reactors (SMR / AMR).

These exciting projects combine agile engineering processes, massive use of digital tools (BIM, PLM, etc.) and necessary compliance with national and international standards and regulations. They leverage the historical know-how that Assystem has built over the major nuclear programs.

Your missions

I&C systems are at the heart of the operation of these facilities (control, safety, security, etc.) just as they are for high-power reactors. Their development is part of the "Overall I&C" specification principles which introduce functions, their classification, their allocation in adapted architectures providing safety and integrity as well as compliance with the expectations of the safety authorities. These elements are important bases for framing detailed studies and the subsequent realization of these systems.

As a Nuclear Control-Command Systems Architect, you will be responsible for design studies in the Detailed Preliminary Design (APD) phase:

  • Functional specification of the various processes and equipment
  • Design of control-command systems: allocation of functions to different systems, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and supervision (SCADA or SNCC) architecture, technical design.
  • Taking into account normative and regulatory constraints (IEC 61511, IEC 61131 etc.) resulting from global specifications,
  • Drafting of specifications for future suppliers responsible for the development and realization activities of the systems,
  • Participation in the selection of these suppliers.

You will also participate in the estimations of budgets and provisional schedules associated with the development of systems within your scope.

Why join the Switchers community?

  • Assystem has over 55 years of experience in nuclear. We are among the top 3 largest nuclear engineering companies.
  • Advantageous social benefits: 1 to 2 days of remote work, holiday bonuses…
  • Training throughout your career.
  • Numerous career opportunities: 70% of our managers come from internal promotion.

Qualifications

Your strengths and prerequisites for success

  • You have a BAC+5 degree with a specialization in automation/industrial computing,
  • You have at least 10 years of experience in control-command system design, ideally in the nuclear field or in any other high-security industry (Defense, Energy) with, if possible, an awareness of System Engineering,
  • You ideally have knowledge of standards such as RCC-E, IEC 61508, IEC 61513, IEC 61226 or other reference frameworks impacting control-command systems,
  • You are organized, rigorous, methodical and possess a synthetic mind,
  • You can be proactive in making key decisions,
  • You possess strong interpersonal skills and great autonomy in your work.
