Freelance News and Entertainment Writer (Weekends) - WGTC

We Got This Covered is a global digital entertainment brand that covers a multitude of pop culture topics for millions of monthly readers. We’re currently seeking weekend writers to help bolster our coverage. This is a great opportunity to cover breaking entertainment news as well as the franchises you love (and some you'll come to love) while working with a talented and passionate team. Applicants should be motivated self-starters who are eager to learn and who respond well to constructive feedback. This is a fully remote and freelance position, open to applicants from anywhere in the world.

Please provide a portfolio or writing samples as well as a resume detailing your previous work experience. Beats we'd like help covering include (but are not limited to):

• Celebrities
• Politics
• Royals
• TikTok/Human Interest
• Reality TV
• Marvel
• Netflix
• Movies
• TV

Responsibilities:

• Help cover celebrity, political, movie, TV, and internet news on Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays
• Story-find, pitch, and write articles pitched by other team members
• Submit clean copy with minimal edits
• Meet article deadlines
• Follow trending topics via Google Trends and Twitter
• Work respectfully with editors to craft high-quality, traffic-driving articles

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of editorial/journalistic experience, specifically focused on entertainment
• Fluency in English and excellent writing skills
• Knowledge of SEO best practices, WordPress, and Trello

Compensation ranges from $16-90 per article depending on word count. Rates may vary, depending on location, for international candidates.
