Job Description

The Journalist at Financial Standard will be responsible for generating two to four articles daily for online/print editions, writing in-depth feature articles, overseeing the timely production of a journal title and podcast, and attending industry events. The role requires maintaining an ethical and objective standard in reporting, generating original ideas, and accurately fact-checking information. The journalist will also need to work under pressure with tight deadlines, displaying strong attention to detail, and possess excellent organizational and time management skills. The candidate should actively participate in improving the overall editorial offering of Financial Standard, uphold and improve the company’s reputation and brand within the wider market, and understand how the financial services industry impacts and influences wider society.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 1 year experience in financial journalism.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to generate original ideas and fact-check information.
  • Organizational and time management capabilities.

A Financial Standard Journalist’s objectives are to:

  • Maintain and grow our reputation for excellence in news coverage and research.
  • Assist in the generation of content for Financial Standard, both online and print editions, video, and podcast.
  • Actively participate in generating ideas for improving the overall Financial Standard’s editorial offering, including journal titles, and support the rest of the Rainmaker Group/ISS STOXX where necessary and appropriate.
  • Act as ambassador for Financial Standard, helping to uphold and improve the company’s reputation and brand within the wider market.
     

Responsibilities

  • Generate two – four articles daily for the online/print edition.
  • To write in-depth and investigative feature articles and profiles as needed.
  • Overseeing the smooth and timely production of a journal title and the podcast.
  • Attend media conferences and other industry-related events at the direction of the editor.
  • To raise the profile of Financial Standard.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, media studies, finance, or a similar degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar/financial journalism role; preferably on digital media while experience in print is a plus.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as superb networking capabilities.
  • Capable of maintaining an ethical and objective standard in reporting.
  • Ability to generate original ideas and accurately fact-check information.
  • A genuine interest in financial services, understanding of how the financial services industry impacts/influences wider society, and eagerness to learn more.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure or in a fast-paced environment, working with tight deadlines and with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and/or interest in responsible investing and corporate sustainability an advantage.
