Job Description

The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for developing and managing strategic partnerships with customers in the Mass Market Channel. This role requires exceptional relationship management skills and a results-driven mindset. The KAM will manage key accounts, focusing on customer satisfaction and driving sales growth. Responsibilities include client relationship management, strategic planning and account development, sales and revenue growth, performance analysis and reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with various teams. The KAM will also monitor market trends, competitor activities, and client performance to adjust strategies accordingly. They will also be involved in negotiating contracts, pricing, and promotions to maximize growth and profitability, ensuring that sales targets are met and revenue objectives are achieved for assigned accounts. The KAM must have a deep understanding of the retail market.
Must have:
  • 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong account management skills in FMCG.
  • Business/financial acumen, including P&L management.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to connect with people to set direction, inspire, and perform.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Achieved sales targets and driven business growth.
  • Previous experience as KAM for top 3 accounts.
  • Fluency in English and Dutch.

About the role: The Key Account Manager (KAM) plays a crucial role in developing and managing strategic partnerships with customers in the Mass Market Channel. This position is essential for ensuring customer satisfaction and driving sales growth. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the retail market, exceptional relationship management skills, and a results-driven mindset. Additionally, the KAM will be responsible for managing the top 3 accounts, and therefore, previous experience as a KAM for top 3 accounts is required.

Your Day to Day:

  • Client Relationship Management: serve as the primary point of contact for assigned key retail accounts, understanding customer needs and requests, and building strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning and Account Development: develop and implement tailored account plans to achieve business goals, identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, and create strategies to capitalize on them. Monitoring market trends, competitor activities, and client performance to adjust strategies accordingly will also be part of your responsibilities.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth: meet or exceed sales targets and revenue objectives for assigned accounts, negotiating contracts, pricing, and promotions to maximize growth and profitability.
  • Performance Analysis and Reporting: track account performance using KPIs, ensure timely internal reporting, and analyze sales data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with the customer marketing team to design promotional campaigns and activations, partner with the supply chain team to ensure product availability and on-time & in-full delivery, align with finance and legal to manage contract negotiations and payment terms, and collaborate with internal teams (Brand, Category Management, NRM, D-Com...) to ensure the delivery of high-quality output in day-to-day operations as well as in quarterly business reviews.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Strong account management skills of large retail accounts in FMCG.
  • Business/financial acumen, including P&L management.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to connect with people to set direction, inspire, and perform.
