PHINIA is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Lead Manufacturing Engineer for its Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, Michigan. The role involves leading the manufacturing team and engineering activities, developing test strategies, and improving current and future products. Key responsibilities include leading new assembly and functional test process development for remanufacturing fuel system products, developing competitor component test methodologies, creating engineering documentation, working with suppliers for new equipment, guiding manufacturing engineers, performing statistical data analysis, and managing RFQ and Capex for new projects. The position requires continuous analysis and improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or science engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in design/manufacturing of electronics or electro-mechanical devices
  • 4+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience with electrical/electro-mechanical components
  • 4+ years of experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, soldering)
  • 4+ years of experience with Data Acquisition Systems and Vision systems

  • Remanufacturing Experience
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering background
  • Ability to handle pressure

  • LabVIEW, C++, or VB experience (optional)

Job purpose

PHINIA is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Lead Manufacturing Engineer at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI.

This person will primarily be responsible for leading our manufacturing team and engineering activities at the plant and work to develop test strategies and improvement activities for current and future products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional teams to lead new assembly and/or functional test process for remanufacturing / re-processing fuel system products or components of commercial vehicles
  • Responsible for developing test methodologies for competitor components / products
  • Develop & maintain the engineering documentation for all the responsible areas
  • Work with 3rd party suppliers to develop new assembly & test equipment for reprocessing of fuel system products / components
  • Guide manufacturing engineers on respective projects and troubleshooting existing production equipment.
  • Statistical data analysis & reporting skills.
  • RFQ and Capex management for new assembly and test projects
  • Guide manufacturing engineers on respective projects and troubleshooting existing production equipment
  • Lead and train ME/SME on various manufacturing processes
  • Continuously analyze and improve manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality through statistical data analysis & reporting skills

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or science engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in design and/or manufacturing of Electronics or Electro-mechanical devices
  • 4+ years of experience with hands-on manufacturing experience with electrical/electro -mechanical components
  • 4+ years of experience with the use of laboratory equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Multimeters and Function Generators, Soldering Equipment
  • 4+ years of experience with Data Acquisition Systems and Vision systems
  • 2+ years of experience with LabVIEW, C++, or VB (optional)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Remanufacturing Experience
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering background
  • Ability to handle pressure
