Job Description

Supervise and guide work planners, ensuring their development, performance, and alignment with organizational goals. Monitor work planning quality, consistency, and adherence to cycle plans. Communicate with management and other departments. Develop and report on performance indicators, providing analysis and recommendations for strategic decision-making. Manage workflow, departmental prioritization, and deliver standardized work packages to Infrastructure and Operations. This role requires full-time on-site presence within the ES&H Directorate.
Good To Have:
  • Prior experience in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
  • Previous experience in a craft position with hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, and/or HVAC trades.
  • Ability to work independently to manage multiple competing priorities and apply project management principles.
Must Have:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve work order planning processes.
  • Provide support, analysis, and guidance to work planners, ensuring timelines and commitments are met.
  • Ensure work orders are prepared in compliance with LLNL requirements and standards.
  • Manage multiple tasks and assignments to meet organizational and business objectives.
  • Identify and apply effective management methods to develop and implement standards and processes.
  • Review and apply operating experience, benchmarking, and lessons learned to improve processes.
  • Lead the evaluation of internal and external processes for continuous improvement.
  • Assess training needs, develop training plans, and ensure knowledge transfer and succession planning.
  • Manage workflow issues, departmental prioritization, and ensure delivery of standardized work packages.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, project management, or equivalent.
  • Experience as a maintenance work planning manager, planner, or technical writer for maintenance.
  • Extensive experience developing technical documents such as work procedures, LOTO, and Interlock procedures.
  • Highly advanced supervisory and/or technical leadership experience including budget responsibilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives and projects.
  • Highly advanced problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Experience leading change initiatives and implementing new business processes.
  • Proficiency with driving accountability, fostering teamwork, and applying continuous learning.
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.

Job Description

We have an opening for a Maintenance Work Planning Supervisor. In this role, you will supervise and guide work planners, ensuring their development, performance, and alignment with organizational goals and standards. You will monitor work planning, maintain quality and consistency in work packages, and ensure planners adjust plans as needed to support the cycle plan. Communication with Work Planning and Control Management and other departments will be essential. You will be responsible for developing and reporting on performance indicators to track the success of deployed planners. Additionally, you will provide analysis and develop recommendations for management to support strategic decision-making. You will also manage workflow issues, departmental prioritization, and ensure the delivery of standardized work packages to the Infrastructure and Operations organization. This position is within the Environment Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate.

This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

You will

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve work order planning processes.
  • Provide support, analysis, and guidance to work planners, ensuring timelines and commitments are met.
  • Ensure work orders are prepared in compliance with LLNL requirements and standards.
  • Manage multiple tasks and assignments to meet organizational and business objectives.
  • Identify and apply effective management methods to develop and implement standards and processes.
  • Review and apply operating experience, benchmarking, and lessons learned to improve processes.
  • Lead the evaluation of internal and external processes for continuous improvement.
  • Assess training needs, develop training plans, and ensure knowledge transfer and succession planning.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, project management, or an equivalent combination of education and related technical experience.
  • Experience working as a maintenance work planning manager, maintenance work planner, technical writer for maintenance and/or maintenance related operational experience. Including extensive experience developing technical documents such as work procedures, work instructions, specifications, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and Interlock procedures.
  • Highly advanced supervisory and/or technical leadership experience including budget responsibilities.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) work management modules.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives and projects while maintaining focus on major tactical and strategic initiatives.
  • Highly advanced problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills, ensuring effective resolution of highly complex issues and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Experience leading change initiatives and implementing new business processes to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with driving accountability, achieving results including working in ambiguous situations, fostering teamwork and collaboration, and applying continuous learning.

Qualifications We Desire
