Job Description

Join the Nine News Melbourne team as a Media Exchange Operator, a vital part of the Media Exchange department. This role involves the ingestion of media and close collaboration with Master Control to ensure smooth daily news operations. It's a rotating shift position, including weekends, nights, and early mornings. Responsibilities include accurately recording and ingesting media, communicating availability to stakeholders, playing out material for broadcasts, quickly turning around breaking news, selecting appropriate workflows, and transferring file-based material to external clients. Candidates need strong technical computer knowledge, a passion for news, and excellent communication skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Good To Have:
  • Experience with fundamental skills in AVID Media Composer and EVS.
  • Tertiary qualification in media.
Must Have:
  • Accurately record and ingest media, following NNA naming conventions and a strict material management regime.
  • Communicate media availability to various stakeholders and cooperate with clients via written or verbal communication.
  • Play out material for bulletins and affiliate distributions, and quickly turn around breaking news for live broadcast, working closely with the on-air production team.
  • Select the most appropriate workflows for the media you're working with.
  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate transfer of file-based material to external clients and affiliates.
  • Passion for News and current affairs.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • You'll accurately record and ingest media, following the Nine Network Australia (NNA) naming conventions and a strict material management regime.
  • Communicate media availability to various stakeholders and cooperate with clients via written or verbal communication.
  • Play out material for bulletins and affiliate distributions, and quickly turn around breaking news for live broadcast, working closely with the on-air production team.
  • Select the most appropriate workflows for the media you're working with.
  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate transfer of file-based material to external clients and affiliates.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge of computers and a background in a server-based news environment is highly desirable.
  • Passion for News. You will have a demonstrable passion for news and current affairs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively collaborate with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to Work in a Fast-Paced Environment. You will be able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with fundamental skills in AVID Media Composer and EVS is a plus, as is a tertiary qualification in media.
