Job Description

Exciting opportunities for Production Planners has arisen within Rolls-Royce Submarines, based at our Raynesway site in Derby. You will be working as part of one of our Control Account Team’s (CAT) within a Delivery Business Unit (DBU). The Production Planner will be responsible for delivery of their defined portfolio acting as a single point of contact, driving on time delivery through effective planning whilst maintaining the ERP and supporting systems. Within your team you will identify, prioritise, mitigate and resolve delivery issues.

  • Understanding/experience of managing load & capacity is desirable.
Must Have:
  • Compliance with the planning cycle to produce, communicate and track progress on a credible plan.
  • Validate proposed plans, working with Supply Chain Planners, Production Leaders & Production Controllers.
  • Ensure production activities maintain robust & credible data in the ERP system.
  • Have a working knowledge of load and capacity factors that could affect supply chains.
  • Awareness of inventory & logistics implications across the value stream and optimise inventory.
  • Ensure robust answers are given to any Sales and Operation Planning questions.
  • Carry out and input into required business and operational reviews.
  • Co-ordinate the resolution of issues with paperwork (route cards, documentation & supplier docs etc.).
  • Operate to the relevant policies and procedures as defined and comply with Rolls-Royce Management System.
  • Educated to degree level or relevant professional qualification (e.g. APICS).
  • Experience of supply chain planning & control is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deliveries and make balanced business decisions under challenging circumstances.
  • Understanding of different roles / functions / processes (e.g. Manufacturing, Purchase, New Product Introduction, Quality).
  • Working knowledge of, and experience with MRP and/or ERP systems.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats.
  • Hold a UK nationality.

What you’ll be doing:

To be responsible for delivery of your defined portfolio acting as a single point of contact, driving on time delivery through effective planning whilst maintaining the ERP and supporting systems. Within your team you will identify, prioritise, mitigate and resolve delivery issues.

  • Compliance with the planning cycle, to produce, communicate and track progress on a credible plan to meet customer demands; including inventory, logistics and storage considerations.
  • To validate proposed plans, working with Supply Chain Planners, to ensure delivery of raw materials to meet requirements, working with Production Leaders & Production Controllers to ensure production plans meet customer requirements, and to ensure production plans meet NPI requirements where appropriate.
  • Ensure production activities are undertaken to ensure the ERP system is maintained with robust & credible data that creates suitable supply plans, taking actions to rectify inaccuracies.
  • Have a working knowledge of the load and capacity factors that could potentially affect the supply chains ability to deliver against plan and offer mitigations.
  • Awareness of inventory & logistics implications across the value stream and optimise inventory, whilst minimising customer delivery risk/costs.
  • Ensure robust answers are given to any Sales and Operation Planning questions through the Demands Management process.
  • To carry out and input into required business and operational reviews to understand capability to deliver to demand requirements, to define and manage actions to mitigate risks and issues.
  • Co-ordinate the resolution of issues with paperwork (route cards, documentation & supplier docs etc.) where compliance with business, regulatory and export requirements exist, to safeguard delivery to customer.
  • To operate to the relevant policies and procedures as defined and comply with Rolls-Royce Management System.

Requirements
