Job Description

The Manufacturing Inspector at Wabtec Bus Solutions is responsible for performing detailed inspections of products throughout the entire production process, from raw material receipt to final product release. This role ensures products meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The inspector identifies defects, prevents non-conformances, and supports continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to high-impact solutions for customers and communities in Transit Bus & Rail systems.
Must Have:
  • Perform detailed inspections of products throughout the entire production process.
  • Ensure all products meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify defects, prevent non-conformances, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • CMM experience (2+ years without certification).
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing inspection or quality control.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP, or other relevant quality standards.
  • Professional level oral and written communication necessary to complete inspection and test reports.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

  • The Manufacturing Inspector is responsible for performing detailed inspections of products throughout the entire production process—from raw material receipt to final product release. This role ensures that all products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications and complies with regulatory requirements. The inspector plays a critical role in identifying defects, preventing non-conformances, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • CMM experience. Technical certification or associate degree required. Without Certification 2+ years of CMM experience required.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing inspection or quality control.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, GMP, or other relevant quality standards.
  • Professional level oral and written communication necessary to complete inspection and test reports.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.

What will your typical day look like?

Calibration

  • Maintain calibration records and certificates.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed or coordinate with external vendors for service.

Incoming Inspection:

  • Set-up Incoming Inspection Plans in Quality software.
  • Inspect raw materials, components, and subassemblies upon receipt.

NCMR / MRB Activities:

  • Inspect and evaluate non-conforming materials and components.
  • Conduct Containment verification on inventory Quantity.

Production Floor Support:

  • Respond to quality issues raised by operators or supervisors and assist in issue verification containment and resolution.
  • Conduct capability study measurements as required.

FAI (Internal PPAP)

  • Set-up FAI Plan in QMS Quality Software
  • Conduct Dimensional inspection in Software

Engineering Inspection Support:

  • Conduction dimensional inspection requested by Engineering using standard and special equipment such as CMM, and AI enabled tools.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate inspection records and logs.
  • Document non-conformances and assist in the disposition of defective products

What about the physical demands of the job?

  • Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to machinery and materials.
  • May require standing for long periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Starting Salary: $25.00 - $29.95
