About the job:
As a Security Consultant Intern, you will contribute to the long-term success of Google's clients by providing specialized security expertise. You will partner with clients to evaluate, create, develop, improve, and mature their information security operations and programs. This role involves utilizing industry standards, combining experience and knowledge from Incident Response, Intelligence, and Managed Defense practices to develop defense-forward information security programs. You will provide guidance on building and/or maturing cybersecurity programs, implement security controls, and assess existing ones. You will also interface with clients to address concerns and issues, track and drive resolution of impacting issues, and engage with client stakeholders to drive resolution for security issues.
Must have:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related technical field
  • Experience in investigative or incident response environments
  • Experience in professional cyber security domains
Good to have:
  • Currently attending a degree program in the US and available to work full time for 12 weeks outside of university term time
  • In their penultimate academic year or returning to a degree program after completion of the internship
  • Experience working in SOC analysis, malware research, threat hunting, or similar
  • Familiar with fundamentals of operating systems, including Windows, Linux, or OS X

Minimum qualifications:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $89,000-$118,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on building and/or maturing cybersecurity programs and the implementation of tools and technologies used for enterprise security.
  • Evaluate client needs, coordinate design for a solution, and clearly communicate the value proposition of complex and highly technical subjects.
  • Implement and/or assess existing security controls.
  • Interface with clients to address concerns, issues, or escalations. Track and drive to closure any issues that impact the service and its value to clients.
  • Engage and collaborate with client stakeholders and other groups within customer environment to drive resolution for security issues.
