Job Description

The Account Manager will have full commercial responsibility for designated customer accounts, leading daily activities for customer and organizational responses, support, and requirements. This role involves working with Customer Service and other departments to achieve metrics and sales goals. The Account Manager will also take a leadership role in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. Key responsibilities include representing the business professionally, developing and implementing customer strategies to improve profitability and growth, understanding market share and competitive positioning, implementing pricing and branding strategies, building relationships with key decision makers, developing and tracking new business opportunity plans, monitoring market dynamics, developing sales forecasts, complying with commercial policies, coordinating external sales representatives, and serving as the escalation point for commercial relationships. Participation in the Annual Physical Inventory is also required.
Must have:
  • 5 years of experience as an account manager in the automotive industry
  • More than 8 years of experience in sales or engineering

JOB PURPOSE

The Account Manager has full commercial responsibility for one or more customer accounts and is responsible for leading daily activities related to customer and organizational responses, support, and requirements.
Works with Customer Service and other departments to ensure that metrics and sales are met. Assumes a leadership role in generating and following up on new business opportunities and/or customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent the business unit in a professional, positive, and proactive manner.

• Develop (with input from cross-functional teams) and implement comprehensive customer strategies that improve profitability and growth.

• With support from other areas of the organization, articulate a clear understanding of our market share, competitive position, and profitability for each assigned account.

• Work closely with sales management to implement comprehensive market-driven pricing strategies and/or branding strategies based on customer value and competitive alternatives.

• Build strong relationships with key decision makers, developing coaches and brand sponsors as needed.

• Develop proactive new business opportunity (NBO) plans, tracking and recording progress toward sales goals.

• Monitor market dynamics, including customer and competitor developments and information relevant to sales management.

• Develop sales forecasts for use in the LRP and monitor market trends throughout the year for use in monthly forecast adjustments.

• Comply with PHINIA's contract review procedures and commercial policies.

• Maintain and promote a direct strategy reporting line with sales management and other management as needed.

• Coordinate and lead the strategies and activities of external sales representatives as an integral part of the company's sales objectives.

• Serve as the initial point of internal and external escalation to ensure the proper functioning of commercial relationships.

• Participation in the Annual Physical Inventory.

What we’re looking for

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related engineering field.

Experience in a similar position: 5 years' experience as an account manager in the automotive industry (original equipment and/or aftermarket)

More than 8 years of experience in sales or engineering with a focus on customers

Technical knowledge required: Basic engineering desirable

Other knowledge: Microsoft Office, basic finance, basic statistics, project management.

Willingness to travel: Yes

English required: Competent
