The Documentum Administrator plays a critical role in managing and evolving the Documentum content management platform while contributing to the broader DevOps strategy at Springer Nature. This hybrid role combines the deep technical skills of a traditional Documentum administrator with modern DevOps practices to ensure the stability, scalability, and efficiency of enterprise content services and deployment pipelines. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Documentum environments, while also designing and automating CI/CD workflows, cloud infrastructure provisioning, and operational monitoring.
- Administer and maintain the full OpenText Documentum tech stack, including:
- Content Server, xCP, D2, DA, xDA, xPlore, xPression, CTS, REST Services, and LDAP integration
- Application servers: JBoss, Wildfly, Tomcat, Pivotal tcServer
- Operating systems: Linux and Windows
- Perform Documentum environment installations, upgrades, patching, configuration, troubleshooting, and support.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for content-related and platform applications.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with development, QA, and IT teams to support secure, reliable, and repeatable deployments.
- Monitor system performance, logs, and health using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc.
- Participate in incident response and blameless post-mortems to improve system reliability.
- Document operational procedures, system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
- Stay current with trends in DevOps, cloud platforms, and enterprise content management.
Within 3 Months:
- Gain hands-on knowledge of Springer Nature’s Documentum environments, internal platforms, and CI/CD toolchain.
- Support existing deployments and engage with team members during agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning).
- Contribute to small-scale automation and configuration tasks under supervision.
By 3–6 Months:
- Take ownership of core Documentum admin tasks and begin enhancing automation in deployment workflows.
- Improve platform reliability by applying infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles and monitoring tools.
- Assist in refining processes around access control, content archiving, and metadata management.
By 6–12 Months:
- Lead end-to-end Documentum environment upgrades or migrations (on-prem to cloud).
- Spearhead the automation of DevOps workflows, improve infrastructure observability, and enhance deployment strategies.
- Mentor new team members and actively contribute to cross-functional discussions around platform design, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Participate in user feedback sessions and research to better align platform capabilities with business needs.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Documentum Administrator with a solid background in enterprise content platforms.
- 10+ years of total experience in ECM, cloud infrastructure, or related domains.
- Hands-on expertise in:
- Documentum components and tools (Content Server, JMS, xCP, DA, xDA, xPlore, CTS, xPression, REST)
- Documentum version 7.3, 16.4, 20.4, 24.2 and xCP 2.3. 16.4, 20.4, 24.2
- Scripting: Shell, Python, or Java
- Good to have:
- DevOps tools: Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Git
- Cloud platforms: AWS or GCP
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and configuration management.
- Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions (e.g., ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional agile team.
