We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Define and drive the strategic vision for machine learning initiatives within the team.
• Lead the development and optimization of machine learning models.
• Oversee the preprocessing and analysis of large datasets.
• Deploy and maintain ML solutions in production environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into products and services.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of deployed models, making necessary adjustments.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and data scientists.
• Ensure adherence to best practices and industry standards in ML development.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Previous management experience

Preferred Qualification:

Your day to day:

• Lead the team in charge of Development of LLMs, Recommender Systems leveraging cutting edge AI/ML techniques, such as graph neural networks and deep learning models.
• Define an end-to-end vision for domain, including Signal Collection, Consumer Embedding, Product and Merchant Embeddings and retrieval/ranking pipelines.
• Leverage GenAI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Llamma to accelerate development of recommendation models.
• Communicate complex concepts and the results of models and analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences. Influencing partners including product stakeholders.
• Work in close partnership with our engineering group and PayPal's Platforms organization and drive the adoption of ML/AI solutions throughout the organization.
• Grow and scale a team of top-performing talent

This position is hybrid and requires in-office presence 3-days a week in our San Jose, CA Headquarters.

What do you need to bring:

• Strong background in Machine Learning with practical experience in building and implementing large-scale predictive models and recommendation systems.
• Expertise in Customer Facing AI/ML Recommendation applications on a large-scale consumer-facing app.
• Preferred to have industry expertise in e-commerce recommendations, Ads relevance or other related applications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence partners and customers with your insights and expertise.
• Ability to groom senior ICs and Junior Managers.
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields. At least 2 years of experience managing teams and 8 years of experience in AI/ML for Consumer or relevant Applications.
