Senior Narrative Director

Mob Entertainment is looking for a Senior Narrative Director to join the development of AAA titles and for movie and animation projects.

As a member of the narrative department, you’ll create memorable characters and compelling plots as well as design and write the many types of stories, dialogues, cinematics, and other texts in our game, movies and animation.

You’ll help us by…

• Collaborating with the narrative team and other departments in creating game locations,  characters, factions, quests, and plots as well as for movies and animation
• Writing and revising dialogue and cinematic scripts
• Taking narrative ownership of a region, faction, key character, or other feature of a particular project (movie, game, or animation)
• Designing, writing, and implementing text and other narrative systems
• Crafting detailed backstories. Build out a world as part of that ecosystem. (think Star Wars mentioning Clone Wars in the 1st movie decades ago and then producing it years later)
• Providing constructive feedback on others’ work
• Acting as a liaison to other departments, conveying the consistent narrative vision of the project
• Assisting with character casting, and preparing scripts, and attending movie production meetings
• Mentoring staff and associate narrative designers
• Ensuring all tasks are completed according to given specifications and deadlines
• Performing any additional narrative design responsibilities as assigned by Narrative Leadership

You’re awesome because you have…

• 10+ years experience as a professional Narrative Designer (or some combination of applicable training and experience)
• Experience in the Entertainment Industry, preferably the movie industry
• Demonstrable and strong skills as a writer and editor
• The ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team
• No problem working independently; are self-driven in taking ownership of tasks in a highly confidential environment
• Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude

Experience pitching narrative concepts in a clear, detailed manner, through strong written and verbal skills

• Strong organization skills and methodologies and the capability to consistently meet deadlines
• Comfort with self-critique and accepting outside feedback
• A habit of regularly playing and understanding modern video games

Bonus points for…

• Experience writing for movie production, animation, or video games, preferably a combination thereof
• One or more shipped titles or movie productions you have worked on as a Narrator
• Experience with technical narrative design (implementation in tools, visual scripting, etc)
• Published writing (novels, short fiction, film, television, comics, etc,
• Strong interest and experience watching and critiquing movies with clear analysis of pros/cons, what made the movie/game great, and where there was room for improvement
• Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles
