Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer at DraftKings, you'll be part of a Sportsbook team building high-performance software using C# .Net Core, Kubernetes, Kafka, and RabbitMQ. You will develop systems and APIs processing millions of bets daily, focusing on scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining these systems, contributing to process improvement, and participating in code and design reviews. You'll work collaboratively with engineers, designers, product managers, and data analysts to deliver features quickly and see your work used by millions of customers. Must have:
  • 3+ years of development experience in OOP (C# or Java)
  • Strong knowledge of OOP and REST principles
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests
  • Experience with Kafka (highly advantageous)
  • Experience building distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred)

The Crown Is Yours

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be part of one of our Sportsbook teams where you’ll work closely with other engineers, designers, product managers, and data analysts to build highly performant software in C# .Net Core, with the latest adjacent technologies including Kubernetes, Kafka and RabbitMQ.

You’ll be a creative problem solver and help contribute to our processes and decision-making. When we build new features, we focus on scalability and availability of the entire platform, which processes about 15 million bets per week.

What you’ll do as a Senior Software Engineer

  • You will be developing systems and APIs that process 2 million bets per day, with a strong focus on customers, a large and passionate group of sports enthusiasts.

  • Our solutions need to be scalable, highly reliable and fault tolerant. We are always looking to perfect and improve our systems, and we react quickly to resolve adverse system behavior.

  • Engineers will learn about the complete Sportsbook system and be part of a team which works on and owns specific services.

  • We roll out products quickly and are looking for engineers who are enthusiastic to see their development work live in production and being used by customers.

  • Once you are settled into the team, we will build your career and challenge you to grow in areas such as technical specialization, engineering leadership or management roles.

 
What you’ll bring

  • Ideally, you have 3+ years of development experience in object-oriented programming using languages such as C# or Java. 

  • You have a strong knowledge of OOP and REST design principles.

  • Experience with Kafka (highly advantageous) 

  • 1+ years of relational database experience including schema design and SQL

  • You also have experience writing and maintaining a comprehensive suite of unit and integration tests.

  • Experience writing distributed systems in a Cloud Computing environment such as AWS strongly preferred. 

  • Ability to grow other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and over-the-shoulder debugging.
