Job Description

The Senior Software Engineer is a key contributor in the Data Security team within Thales’ Cyber Security Products (CSP) business line. This role involves delivering secure, high-quality software solutions for enterprise data security products, collaborating with global development teams, and directly supporting customers in troubleshooting and issue resolution. The engineer will work independently, taking end-to-end ownership of tasks, and be adaptable across a wide range of technologies, while adhering to Agile methodologies and security standards.
Good To Have:
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies.
  • Familiarity with microservices.
  • Familiarity with container platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
Must Have:
  • Work collaboratively with a globally distributed software development team.
  • Contribute to design, implementation, and maintenance of product features.
  • Handle technical customer support, including complex troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Work independently and take end-to-end ownership of tasks.
  • Follow Agile development methodology.
  • Be flexible and switch quickly across different technology stacks.
  • Ensure high standards of security and quality in all code and technical deliverables.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing through documentation, code reviews, and mentorship.
  • Maintain secure development practices aligned with Thales security standards.
  • Minimum 6+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Golang, JAVA, .Net and system-level programming on Linux and Windows.
  • Experience across server-side, client-side, and database technologies.
  • Comfortable working at the application layer, with strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
  • Strong emphasis on secure coding and defensive programming.
  • Commitment to unit testing, code reviews, and maintaining high-quality standards and support CI and DevOps workflow.
  • Experience in Agile development processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Position Summary

The Senior Software Engineer is a key contributor in the Data Security team within Thales’ Cyber Security Products (CSP) business line. This role exists to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions for enterprise data security products. The engineer will collaborate with global development teams and directly support customers in troubleshooting, issue resolution, and ongoing feature development. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, shows autonomy in problem-solving, and is adaptable across a wide range of technologies.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with a globally distributed software development team, contributing to design, implementation, and maintenance of product features.
  • Responsible for handling technical customer support, including complex troubleshooting, issue resolution, and post-release fixes.
  • Must be able to work independently and take end-to-end ownership of tasks, including feature development, debugging, and testing.
  • Expected to follow Agile development methodology, preferably SAFe; participation in Scrum ceremonies is an added advantage.
  • Expected to be flexible and switch quickly across different technology stacks such as:
  • Client-server development, C, Golang, Java, .Net, well servered in OS concepts and Databases: Relational and NoSQL systems
  • Responsible for ensuring high standards of security and quality in all code and technical deliverables.
  • Must be able to participate in knowledge sharing through documentation, code reviews, and mentorship of peers.
  • Responsible for maintaining secure development practices aligned with Thales security standards and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience working in globally distributed teams and directly supporting customers is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ (Must), Golang, JAVA, .Net and system-level programming on Linux and Windows.
  • Experience across server-side, client-side, and database technologies.
  • Comfortable working at the application layer, with strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
  • Added advantage: familiarity with cloud-native technologies, microservices, and container platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Security & Quality:

  • Strong emphasis on secure coding and defensive programming.
  • Commitment to unit testing, code reviews, and maintaining high-quality standards and support CI and DevOps workflow.

Process & Communication:

  • Experience in Agile development processes; familiarity with SAFe is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to document and share knowledge effectively within the team.

Other experience that would be desirable includes,
