Job Description

Apple is seeking a highly motivated Simulation Engineer to conduct structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis of sensing technology. This role involves pushing virtual product development boundaries by combining traditional finite element analysis with modern automation and data-driven methods. The engineer will build scalable workflows, uncover sensitivities, and apply guaranteed-by-design concepts to ensure robust solutions across mechanical and thermal challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact engineering solutions.
Good To Have:
  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, with 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Advanced experience in FEA and CFD, preferably in high-volume consumer electronic products
  • Direct experience with sensor technologies is a plus
  • Proficiency in Abaqus, ANSYS (Mechanical/Icepak), COMSOL, or similar simulation tools
  • Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for scripting and automation
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis methods (Monte Carlo, DOE, statistical process control) is a plus
  • Additional exposure electromagnetics and electrostatics, acoustics, fatigue, fracture mechanics, or biomechanics
  • Applied knowledge of material testing and modeling for nonlinear materials (e.g., adhesives, elastomers, polymers)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and management, while contributing positively to the engineering community
Must Have:
  • Own and execute FEA for structural, dynamic, and thermal analysis of components and assemblies.
  • Perform CFD simulations to assess heat transfer and optimize thermal performance of designs.
  • Build automated workflows using commercially available tools to streamline and standardize simulations.
  • Use sensitivity analysis, data analysis, and Guaranteed by Design approaches to drive robust design decisions.
  • Support models with material characterization and targeted validation testing.
  • Lead failure analysis, design of experiments (DoE), and root cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate models and communicate results effectively.
  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of solid mechanics and heat transfer
  • Hands-on experience in FEA
Perks:
  • Opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs
  • Eligibility for discretionary restricted stock unit awards
  • Ability to purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan
  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage
  • Retirement benefits
  • Range of discounted products and free services
  • Reimbursement for certain educational expenses, including tuition, for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple
  • Eligibility for discretionary bonuses or commission payments
