In this entry-level role, the Simulator Technician I will complete technical training and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Full Flight Simulators and related training devices. Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnosing problems, utilizing maintenance management systems, performing pre-flight/post-flight checks, and providing customer service. The role requires a 2-year technical degree and 0-2 years of experience.
Must have:
  • Complete technical training on various systems associated with Full Flight Simulator and/or related training devices.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks on Full Flight Simulator and/or related training devices.
  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.
  • Run automatic Qualification Test Guide (QTG).
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE's quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.
Good to have:
  • Interest in aviation and mechanical aptitude

Role and Responsibilities

In this entry level role, the Simulator Technician I, will be expected to:

  • Complete technical training on the various systems associated with a Full Flight Simulator and/or related training devices located at the Canadian North/CAE Training Centers located at the Edmonton International Airport.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks in support of a Full Flight Simulator and/or related training devices.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Perform pre-flight and post-flight on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • 2-year technical degree in IT, electronics, avionics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 0 to 2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.
  • Ability to interpret system diagrams and schematics.
  • Proficiency in operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter etc.).
  • Knowledge of analog and digital theory.
  • Computer architecture/IT literate.
  • Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and suite.
  • Interest in aviation and mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and suite.
