Job Description

The Software Engineer in Test (SDET) will be responsible for developing and maintaining test systems and tools to understand test results. They will drive automation, assist in DevOps, and create tooling to highlight testing patterns. The role involves raising defect reports, working with development teams, and documenting technical topics. The ideal candidate will be proactive, a team player with excellent communication skills, and have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or Information Technology.

Job Description Summary:

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer in Test (SDET) who is technically minded to join our established Quality Assurance Group.

Applicants will gain satisfaction from creating tools and systems to support automation at scale and enjoy the experience of test automation from creation through to diagnosis of problems. You will have an excellent attitude towards work and should be able to communicate with colleagues from other countries as part of a wider located team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development and maintenance of test systems and tools which allow us to build understanding of test results
  • Driving our QC focused automation to be effective, reliable and efficient
  • Assisting across the team in solving various automation challenges in our DevOps cycle
  • Raising formal defect reports and working with development teams to further diagnose and resolve issues
  • Documents and communicates on technical topics 
  • Creating tooling which can highlight patterns in testing that will inform levels of risk

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated competence in Scripting (Shell, Batch, VBScript) / Programming (C#, Java, Python) and an understanding of programming principles
  • Exposure to multiple platforms Windows / Windows Server / UNIX / Linux / Mainframe
  • Familiar with Virtual Environments, CI systems and source control systems (SVN / Git / VMWare)
  • A logical and analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail.

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Information Technology
