Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that components and products consistently meet specified requirements through professional-level work. This role involves applying knowledge of product and process engineering to improve supplier operations, aiming to reduce lead times, inventory, PPM, and total manufacturing costs. Key responsibilities include managing component quality, developing and updating inspection plans in SAP, conducting PTR runs, and closing the PPAP process. The engineer will address non-conforming components, implement containment actions within 24 hours, and collaborate with suppliers to identify root causes, documenting issues in the CPMs Supplier Performance System. They will also follow up on supplier action plans, generate monthly reports to improve KPIs like PPM and incident rates, manage quarantined non-conforming product, conduct supplier visits and audits when necessary, and track costs associated with non-conforming materials. The role also involves conducting LPA audits and participating in the Internal Auditors team and Annual Physical Inventory.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibility for the quality of components used in product assemblies.

Develop inspection plans in SAP for new components to be used in processes.

Monitor and update inspection plans as required according to plans, engineering changes and established priorities.

Responsible for conducting PTR runs for initial component samples and closing the PPAP process for each validated component.

Address non-conforming component issues that are detected on receipt inspection, during the assembly process, and during customer claims on 0 Km and Warranties that are the responsibility of the suppliers. This involves implementing containment within 24hrs and working with suppliers to determine the root causes of reported problems. All issues detected both internally and externally should be documented in the CPMs Supplier Performance System.

Follow up on action plans submitted by suppliers for reported problems.

Use the information generated and collected to make monthly reports and work towards compliance and improvement of established KPI's (PPM's Suppliers, # of Incidents (CPM's), Quarantine Turnover, Spills, PTR's on time follow up).

Maintain inventory control of non-conforming product in quarantine and ensure prompt disposition of materials.

When required due to emergent issues, conduct supplier visits to follow up on action plans and/or audits.

When required for emergent issues, plan inspections with external inspection providers (sorters) to contain supplier problems. Monitoring of external personnel, inventory control, as well as cost control to process charges to suppliers should be maintained.

Follow up on costs associated with non-conforming material both in plant, as well as costs generated by inspections, disassemblies, scrap, etc., at customers' plants.

Conduct LPA's audits.

Be part of the Internal Auditors team.

Actively participate in the Annual Physical Inventory.

What we’re looking for

Grade: Mechanical Engineering, Electronic, Industrial or related career.

Time of experience in similar position: 3 years or more in similar position.

Technical knowledge required: Core Tools, IATF 16949, GD&T Manufacturing Processes, Statistical Methods, Problem Solving Methods, Technical Skills according to the commodities in charge, Internal Auditor IATF 16949, LPA's.

Other requirements: Microsoft Office and VDA 6.5 (desirable).

Availability to travel: Yes
