Located in Elancourt, a major technological excellence center, Thales' Air Optronics development department is seeking a System Technical Manager/Product Design Authority (PDA) Assistant. This role involves upstream studies, system engineering, managing sub-assembly and sensor developments, qualification, and flight testing of airborne optronic products. The primary responsibility will be to oversee the acceptance of equipment in production, ensuring technical choices, managing risks, and validating delivery quality.

Your daily life

At the heart of Saint Quentin en Yvelines, the Elancourt site is one of the most important technological excellence centers. The diversity and technicality of the systems and equipment mobilize expertise in more than 80 professions in defense, high-tech security, and digital services solutions.

Within the Air Optronics sector, the development department is responsible for upstream studies, system engineering, managing the development of sub-assemblies and sensors, qualification, and flight testing of airborne optronic products.

You will take on the responsibility of System Technical Manager/Product Design Authority (PDA) Assistant for a defined product, and more particularly for the acceptance of equipment in Production.

Within an engineering team, reporting directly to the Air Optronics Development Director, you will be the technical representative vis-à-vis other projects using these technological building blocks and will interface with the PDAs of these projects.

As PDA, your main missions are:

  • Validate all technical choices,
  • Alert on project technical risks and take corrective measures
  • Propose appropriate compromises regarding technical risks, planning, and costs
  • Validate the technical quality of deliveries to clients

YOUR PROFILE

With a higher education from an engineering school, or equivalent training, ideally with a specialization in optronics, you have experience in:

  • designing a complex product (optical, mechanical, and electronic),
  • producing a complex product
  • developing airborne embedded products
  • technical problem solving
