The Talent Acquisition Lead role at Morningstar involves coordinating the recruiting lifecycle, partnering with hiring managers, managing local employee experiences, promoting Morningstar as a great place to work, creatively finding new candidates, and collaborating with regional Talent Acquisition teams. The Group: Morningstar’s corporate functions play an essential role in supporting our company’s strategic initiatives, day-to-day operations and infrastructure. The People and Culture team (known as Human Resources in other firms) is the steward of Morningstar’s unique culture. We design and deliver the end-to-end programs and experiences that support the entire talent lifecycle. By helping Morningstar employees succeed, we contribute to Morningstar’s growth and success.

The Role: Recruiting and retaining great people is critical to Morningstar’s future as well as operational HR Business Partner support. You will play a key role as our Talent Acquisition Lead covering the overall APAC region (excluding India), with a primary focus on Australia and New Zealand, while also providing operational HR Business Partnering support to ensure we are successful in these efforts. We seek someone who is passionate about hiring the best, values creating a great candidate experience, and understands the importance of finding talented people with a passion for our mission to create great products that help investors reach their financial goals as well as partnering with our BP team to provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity and goal attainment. This position is based in our Sydney office.

Responsibilities (Talent Acquisition)

  • Coordinate the recruiting lifecycle including job postings, sourcing candidates, resume review, interview arrangements and employment offers.
  • Partner with hiring managers to successfully match candidate skillsets to business needs.
  • Manage local employee experiences including new hire introduction events, tenure awards
  • Continuously contribute to improving and enhancing the candidate and hiring manager experience.
  • Enthusiastically promote Morningstar as a great place to work through campus recruiting and other promotion efforts, as needed.
  • Creatively find new candidates via social media and other marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the regional Talent Acquisition teams to stay on top of global processes and trending best practices.

Responsibilities (Business Partner support)

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on coaching, mentoring, training and development, rewards and recognition, and performance management. 
  • Partner with business leaders to support efforts that continue to enhance employee engagement. 
    Implement global People & Culture practices and processes in your region.  
  • Sound working knowledge of employment law, including the Fair Work Act and the National Employment Standards, with the ability to apply this knowledge in workplace situations.
  • Immigration Management: Assist with immigration processes, tracking and ensuring compliance with laws and regulation. 
  • Champion diversity and inclusion efforts, ensuring that these principles are championed into all people practices, events and in line Morningstar culture and values.  
  • Lead and manage the full onboarding process and early career journey for new starters.
  • Lead and successfully execute projects on behalf of, or in partnership with, other People & Culture team members in areas such as learning & development, workplace health & safety, analytics, process improvements, transformation, program enhancements or new program launches, organizational change, information management, HRIS, and communications.


About you:

  • Excellent communication, client service and negotiation skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to build strong relationships and work closely with our People & Culture teams globally across different timezones (as and when required)
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other tools in Microsoft Office program
  • A bachelor's degree is required; at least 1+ years experience in an HR business partnering position and 4+ years experience in a Talent Acquisition position (in a professional corporate environment is an advantage)
