The Thales La Ferté Saint Aubin site, specializing in land and airborne weapon systems, seeks a Trade Compliance Officer. This role involves leading a two-person department, reporting to the Legal and Compliance Manager. The TCO will manage relations with authorities, ensure regulatory compliance for operations, contribute to audits, maintain the Trade Compliance framework, and train internal teams. The position is transversal, requiring daily interaction with various company stakeholders to provide essential Trade Compliance support. Candidates need a minimum of 10 years of experience and mastery of export control regulations.
Must have:
  • Manage relations with competent authorities and stakeholders.
  • Ensure traceability of operations compliant with regulations.
  • Consolidate/validate reports for authorities or external clients.
  • Contribute to internal/external Trade Compliance audits.
  • Establish and maintain the company's Trade Compliance framework.
  • Train and inform internal teams on Trade Compliance.
  • Animate and structure the team's activity.
  • Manage team HR aspects (objectives, development).
  • Minimum 10 years of Trade Compliance experience.
  • Mastery of export control regulations (e.g., ITAR).
  • Proficiency in license applications (Sigale), condition management, CNR, declarations, reports, tracking.

  • Higher education (Bac + 5) in engineering or commerce.

Your daily life

Within the Tactical Vehicles and Systems activity, the La Ferté Saint Aubin site specializes in the production of land and airborne weapon systems (mortars, ammunition, rockets, etc.), force protection systems, and zone control. With its 450 employees, including engineers, technicians, and specialized workers, the La Ferté Saint Aubin site ensures research and development, production, testing, as well as all the "support" functions necessary for the design of high-performance systems essential to the success of operational missions. Thales has formed, with the German defense group DIEHL, a Joint-Venture "JUNGHANS T2M" which has 165 employees, allowing the two companies to combine their expertise in electronics and precision mechanics and thus become one of the world leaders in the field of munition fuses. This Joint-Venture is also present on the La Ferté Saint Aubin site.

To strengthen its Trade Compliance department, which consists of two people, we are looking for a new talent for a Trade Compliance Officer (TCO) position who will be in charge of the Trade Compliance department. The department is currently composed of two people who will be under the direct responsibility of the TCO.

You will report to the Legal and Compliance Manager, a member of the CODIR.

This position is transversal, so you will interact daily with both CODIR members and a large part of the company's operational staff to provide them with daily support on Trade Compliance matters.

Your missions will be varied, and you will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage relations with competent authorities and stakeholders, in particular, to be the interface with national and international supervisory authorities for subjects involving the company.
  • Ensure the traceability of operations carried out in accordance with current regulations (contract signing, order taking, exports, transfers, etc.) and consolidate/validate, within your scope, the reports intended for authorities or external clients.
  • Provide the necessary data and contribute to internal and external Trade Compliance audits within your scope by defining and monitoring the progress of the resulting action plans.
  • Establish and maintain the company's Trade Compliance framework and the processes in place. Train and inform internal teams on topics and news related to Trade Compliance.
  • Animate and structure the activity of your team, hierarchically or functionally, to streamline operations, share practices, and ensure consistency in activity processing.
  • Manage the Human Resources aspects of your team (objective setting, check-ins, skill development).

Your profile:

Holder of a higher education degree (Bac + 5), possibly complemented by a course in engineering and/or commerce, you have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of Trade Compliance.

You master the various Regulations and Legislations governing export control, including integrating specific foreign regulations (ITAR for example).

License applications in Sigale, condition management, CNRs, contract/royalty declarations, responsibility attestations, semi-annual reports, license tracking... hold no secrets for you.

You are rigorous and proactive in handling files, demonstrating diplomacy and persuasive power.

Endowed with excellent interpersonal skills, you also know how to demonstrate team spirit. You have the ability to act effectively in emergencies while knowing how to step back to analyze situations relevantly.
