Job Description

This night shift Welder Assembler position at Watson Bowman Acme, a Sika company, involves assisting welding staff in the manufacture and assembly of metallic products for the construction industry. Responsibilities include fitting sub-assemblies, tie downs, straightening, grinding, and stud welding on steel rails using various tools and equipment. The role requires strict adherence to safety and quality standards, working 4-10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday, typically from 5:30 PM to 4:00 AM.
Good To Have:
  • Additional course work with emphasis on welding

  • Use of hand tools, welding, fixturing, and hydraulic equipment to join components
Must Have:
  • Assist Welding Fitters, Master Fitters, Forepersons, and Manufacturing Supervision staff
  • Manufacture and assemble metallic products for the construction industry
  • Assist in fitting sub-assemblies, including tie downs, straightening, grinding, and stud welding
  • Use hand tools, overhead cranes, and welding equipment
  • Comply with all safety regulations, including Safe Work Permits and training
  • Must be able to lift and manage material of up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time; bend, stoop, or kneel
  • Wear all required PPE
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities & Opportunities

This is a night shift position; 4-10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday. Work hours are typically 5:30pm - 4:00am.

Watson Bowman Acme, a Sika company, is a manufacturer and supplier of expansion joint solutions for the transportation sector, including bridge and highway fabrication, preservation, and tunnels.

This position is responsible for assisting Welding Fitters, Master Fitters, Forepersons, and Manufacturing Supervision staff as directed in the manufacture and assembly of metallic products supplied to the construction industry. More specifically, assist in fitting sub-assemblies as instructed, including but not limited to, tie downs, straightening, grinding, and stud welding on strip seal steel rails, using hand tools, overhead cranes, and welding equipment. Attention to safety and quality is essential to this position.

Preferred Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalency required, additional course work with emphasis on welding preferred.
  • Related experience in the welding and assembly of expansion joint systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings and other written instructions.
  • Use of hand tools, welding, fixturing, and hydraulic equipment to join components together into sub-assemblies and assemble into finished engineer-to-order products.
  • Comply with all safety regulations, including Safe Work Permits, training requirements, and use of safety equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and manage material of up to 50 pounds unassisted; walk or stand for long periods of time; bend, stoop, or kneel if required; wear all required PPE.
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
