Job Summary
At Apple, great ideas become great products. The MLPT Lifecycle team is building groundbreaking technology for next-generation ML model development, enhancing Siri and other Apple products. This platform powers features like FaceID and Photos Recommendations. As a full-stack software engineer, you will design and develop innovative front-end and backend features using microservices architecture for internal web applications, working closely with project managers and UI/UX designers to deliver high-quality work.
Must Have
- Experience programming with Python
- Expertise building client-side web applications with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Expertise with JavaScript single page apps using React/Redux & TypeScript
- Expertise with CSS3 and using SASS
- Experience consuming and developing RESTful APIs, GQL interfaces
- General knowledge of networking protocols HTTP/1 & HTTP/2 (GET, POST), cookies and other HTTP headers
- Experience integrating web-user interfaces with database technologies (PostgresSQL, Key Value Stores like Cassandra and Redis, S3, Search Engines like OpenSearch, Elastic, Solr)
- Comfortable with analyzing business requirements, identifying gaps, and translating requirements into technical designs
- Proficient in and adhere to the best practices of software development, such as agile development, code reviews, continuous integration, and automated testing
- Work closely with project managers, UI/UX designers, and other stakeholders to define requirements, estimate efforts accordingly, and ultimately deliver high quality work on-time
Good to Have
- Experience with event-based messaging systems (Kafka) and workflow orchestration platforms (Airflow)
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP
- Experience with testing frameworks like Jest and Selenium
- Experience with ML or Data Engineering workflows
- Experience with app containerization, tuning, optimization, deployment, and performance of workloads running in a cloud environment (Kubernetes, Docker, Helm)
- Exposure to Java, and Springboot web-services stack

The features we build are redefining how hundreds of millions of people use their computers and mobile devices to conduct their daily life. Our platform has been used to create models that power you daily interactions like FaceId, Photos Recommendation and Memories and many more. As part of this group, you will develop the tools, frameworks, systems that all of Apple’s ML Engineers use to train, evaluate and track the efficacy of AI features across apple products. You’ll help us leverage a combination of human and automated methods to accelerate robust iteration and development of new models and product features.
We are looking for a motivated full-stack software engineer with in-depth knowledge in web application design and development. You will be working on designing and developing innovative front-end and backend software features using micro services architecture for our organization’s internal web applications. Our ideal candidate must have demonstrated expertise in Python, Node.js, React, Typescript, JavaScript, and PostgreSQL (or other databases). As a team member on this team, you are expected to be comfortable with analyzing business requirements, identifying gaps, and translating requirements into technical designs. Additionally, you expected to be proficient in and adhere to the best practices of software development, such as agile development, code reviews, continuous integration, and automated testing. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
