This role involves designing, verifying, and optimizing high-speed analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital CMOS circuits for leading-edge interfaces like HBM and UCIe, PLLs, ADCs, and DACs. The engineer will work on schematics, layout reviews, simulations, and documentation, contributing to products for AI, Machine Learning, HPC, and Hyper-Scale Data Center markets. Analog/Mixed Signal IC Design Engineer

This position is part of a highly skilled multi-geographical team tasked with the development of high speed analog, mixed signal, and custom digital 5nm and 3nm CMOS circuits that comprise our leading-edge high speed interfaces such as HBM and UCIe, PLLs, and general mixed signal IP such as ADCs and DACs. This key differentiating IP is used in the Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, HPC and Hyper-Scale Data Center markets. Commitment to team success, customer satisfaction, first time right quality, and ease of use is critical.

Responsibilities:

Design, prelayout, and postlayout verification of circuits to be used as part of state-of-the-art integrated circuits including:

  • PLLs, Phase Interpolators
  • High speed clock distribution networks
  • High Speed DACs and ADCs
  • Rx Decision-Feedback Equalizers and deserializers
  • TX drivers and serializers

This role involves:

  • Developing circuit schematics, performing detailed layout reviews and performing all necessary verification/simulations.
  • Optimizing circuits in high speed paths for low jitter and low power.
  • Conducting design reviews and creating slides and other associated documentation.
  • Assisting with integration into SOCs
  • Providing guidance to validation engineers in initial bring-up, debug, and characterization

Knowledge and Experience:

  • The position requires extensive experience with designing high-speed custom analog and digital circuits for SerDes IP.
  • The candidate should be extremely familiar with the use of the Cadence Virtuoso tool suite to design and verify high-speed custom circuits, including
  • Virtuoso schematic capture and layout
  • Spectre circuit simulator
  • Virtuoso Analog Design Environment (ADE) – Explorer, Assembler, etc.
  • Design experience in advanced CMOS nodes is required; FinFET design experience is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate will have wide-ranging experience, with a demonstrated ability to rely on both thorough understanding of engineering fundamentals and design creativity to solve circuit design problems.
  • The ideal candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to clearly present their work to other circuit designers and to non-experts as well.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 12+ years of related experience or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of related experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering and 7+ years of related experience

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $141,300 - $226,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
