Job Description

As a Senior Environment Tech Artist, you will contribute to the creation of a vibrant open-world game where NPC life is central. Collaborate with artists and programmers to create optimized assets and pipelines. Responsibilities include implementing technical features, developing tools and workflows, documenting best practices, creating shaders and materials in Unreal Engine, supervising the art team to ensure technical and visual requirements are met, optimizing performance, creating scripts and tools for Maya, Blender, Substance, and Unreal Engine, troubleshooting and maintaining workflows, participating in VFX pipeline creation using Niagara, creating optimized VFX assets, developing level art systems using PCG for vegetation, road placement etc., and conducting technology research to propose innovative solutions. This role requires significant experience and expertise in 2D/3D tools, Unreal Engine 5 (PCG, Niagara, Material Editor, Blueprints), and open-world optimization.
Must have:
  • Significant experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in Maya, Blender, Substance, Photoshop
  • Deep Unreal Engine 5 knowledge (PCG, Niagara, Material Editor)
  • Open-world technical constraints understanding
  • Collaboration with art, design, and programming teams

Description du poste :

Dans le cadre du développement d'un open-world innovant, où la vie des NPC est centrale, tu contribueras à la création d'un univers vivant en travaillant étroitement avec les artistes et les programmeur.ses pour les aider à créer des assets et un pipeline optimisé. Tu participeras à l’implémentation de features techniques, au développement d’outils et workflows au sein d'une équipe à taille humaine, collaborative et avec un esprit d'équipe.

Tes responsabilités clés :

  • Collaborer avec les équipes d’art environnement, de level design et de programmation pour créer des environnements de jeu visuellement attrayant et répondant aux besoins et contraintes techniques et gameplay du projet
  • Documenter les meilleures pratiques et établir des pipelines pour la création et l'intégration d'assets pour les artistes de l'équipe environnement
  • Créer et entretenir des shaders et materiaux modulaires destinés aux artistes d'environnement dans Unreal Engine, documenter leur utilisation pour guider les artistes
  • Superviser l'équipe artistique pour s'assurer que les modèles d'environnement et les assets 3D répondent aux exigences techniques et visuelles, et qu’ils soient optimisés pour la performance
  • Créer des scripts et outils pour améliorer et optimiser le travail des artistes en amont (Maya, Blender, Substance...), et en aval (Unreal Engine)
  • Dépanner, entretenir, améliorer, et résoudre les problèmes techniques liés aux outils et workflows mis en place pour garantir leur efficacité sur toute la durée du projet
  • Participer à la création d'un pipeline optimisé et modulaire de VFX dans Unreal Engine via Niagara
  • Créer divers assets de VFX optimisés pour la performance et d'un haut niveau artistique répondant à la direction artistique du projet
  • Créer divers systèmes de level art pour un Open World dans Unreal Engine via PCG, ils devront être optimisés pour la performance et d'un haut niveau artistique : Génération de végétation et éléments naturels à grande échelle, automatisation du placement d'éléments modulaires tels des routes...
  • Effectuer une veille technologique sur les dernières tendances et les nouvelles technologies dans le domaine des jeux vidéo, et proposer des solutions novatrices. S'auto-former en permanence sur ces technologies et outils pour maintenir un niveau d'excellence technique.

Les qualités que nous recherchons :

  • Une expérience significative sur un poste similaire avec une grande autonomie
  • Une bonne maîtrise des outils de création graphique 2D/3D tels que Maya, Blender, Substance Painter, Substance Designer et Photoshop.
  • Une connaissance approfondie des outils tech-art d'Unreal Engine 5, en particulier : PCG, Niagara, Material Editor, Blueprints, Lighting/Atmosphere/Clouds & Day Sequence
  • Une connaissance approfondie des paramètres et contraintes techniques d'Unreal Engine, particulièrement pour un projet Open-World.
  • De l’expérience dans la collaboration avec des artistes de l'environnement, des concepteurs de niveaux, des programmeurs et d'autres départements, ainsi que de l'amélioration d'un pipeline interdisciplinaire
  • D’excellentes compétences en matière d'organisation, de communication et de relations interpersonnelles
