The Competitive Intelligence Associate Director will lead the creation of comprehensive competitive requests for a major client, supervising junior team members and collaborating with strategy and client teams to deliver actionable data. This role involves developing and maintaining reports, ensuring data accuracy, and utilizing strong media knowledge to contextualize competitive insights. The AD will monitor competitor strategies, identify industry trends, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and manage team workflow, fostering a collaborative environment to inform client strategy and investment.
Must have:
  • Lead development and evolution of client reports.
  • Ensure data accuracy, relevance, and actionability.
  • Utilize strong media knowledge for competitive reports.
  • Monitor and interpret competitor business strategies.
  • Maintain understanding of industry trends and advancements.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with media measurement methodologies.
  • Manage and train junior competitive staff.
  • Supervise workflow for timely project deliveries.
  • 5+ years of media experience (planning/strategy, research, measurement).
  • Strong working knowledge of National and Local Media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Nielsen, Kantar, IMS, Comscore, Google Analytics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to stand up large-scale data projects.
  • Independent decision-making and priority identification.
  • Ability to meet client and internal deadlines.
  • Project, resource, and stakeholder management.

Organizational

The Competitive Intelligence Team – provides advertising intelligence that yields insights resulting in a marketplace advantage for a major client. Our goal is to use this data to provide actionable insights that inform strategy and investment.

Individual

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Competitive Intelligence Associate Director to join our team. The selected candidate would be primarily responsible for leading the creation of comprehensive competitive requests from clients and supervising junior team members. The AD will also collaborate with our strategy and client teams to deliver actionable data. Looking for a strategic planner who can generate comprehensive competitive reports that analyze and interpret the data to provide valuable insights into the competitors strategies and how that can inform our strategies.

Responsibilities

Individual

  • Lead the development, maintenance and evolution of reports based on understanding of our clients’ business needs.
  • Work directly with our strategic planning and client teams, ensuring the data provided is accurate, relevant, and actionable.
  • Utilize strong media knowledge to contextualize competitive reports, deciphering the narrative within the data and its direct implications on media strategy.
  • Monitor and identify changes in competitors' business strategies, interpreting how these shifts could potentially impact our clients.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and advancements, leveraging this knowledge to enhance our competitive intelligence capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies (problem-solving).
  • Familiar with media measurement methodologies.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and able to work with minimal supervision.

Team

  • Manage/train competitive junior staff (on-shore and off-shore) across a variety of tools and processes.
  • Supervise workflow to guarantee timely and accurate project deliveries.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback to ensure growth.
  • Guide team in setting goals and professional development.
  • Encourage proactive thinking across competitive team.
  • Foster a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 5+ years of media experience (planning/strategy, vendor, research, measurement, etc.) or a strong qualitative and quantitative research background. Offline and Online media experience
  • Must have strong working knowledge of National and Local Media

Business Competencies:

  • Computer Skills/Software Knowledge: Microsoft Suite, Nielsen, Kantar Software, IMS, Flowchart Software, R/F and Optimization Software, Social Tracking tools, Comscore, Google Analytics
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills, with ability to present to clients, maintain client correspondence and internal documentation.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new propriety software and processes quickly and proficiently.
  • Ability to stand up large-scale data projects using complex data sets.
  • Understand the strengths and weaknesses of each media type.
  • Able to make independent decisions and identify priorities.
  • Meet client and internal deadlines and obligations.
  • Manage projects, resources, stakeholders, and participants.
  • Orient, train, assign and review the work of subordinates.
  • Be able to identify and promote solutions.
  • Be a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems/issues.
  • Knows industry trends and emerging media.
  • Telecom/tech experience preferred.

Compensation Range: $110,580 - $173,995 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
