Pay Range
$325,560-$414,984 Yearly at the TSM.2 level
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage. We have an opening for an Associate Program Director (APD) for Livermore Computing System and Environments in the Weapon Simulation and Computing (WSC) program within the Strategic Deterrence (SD) directorate. The chosen candidate will also have a complementary role as the Deputy Principal Associate Director for High Performance Computing in the Computing directorate.
You will lead and manage all aspects of Livermore Computing’s (LC) mission to support High Performance Computing (HPC) environments for the LLNL and NNSA mission, including classified and unclassified operations, services, procurements, and long-term strategy. This includes planning and managing the Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) Facilities, Operations and User Support, ASC Computational Systems and Software Environment, and the Multiprogrammatic and Institutional Computing (M&IC) budgets to ensure leverage of ASC and M&IC procurements and common operations and services across all environments. You will be responsible for representing LC in multi-laboratory interactions sponsored by DOE, including long range planning of R&D investments and contracts related to HPC, AI, and other emerging advanced computing technologies. You will be expected to work closely and regularly with principal customers in the Weapons Program, including the Associate Directors for Weapons Physics and Design (WPD), Weapon Technologies and Engineering (WTE) and their respective leadership teams to ensure that programmatic objectives are met and that LC is meeting expectations. You will ensure that M&IC executes appropriately for the institution, strategizes with the Institutional Computing Executive Group, and consults on approaches & budgets with the LLNL Senior Management Team on at least an annual basis. You will have a responsibility to look across the laboratory to assure that LC supports the vitality of HPC across LLNL. You will also be expected to interact routinely with DOE program managers in the (Advanced Simulation and Computing) ASC program on relevant issues. In addition, you will routinely interact with professional colleagues, internal management, and sponsor organizations internal and external to LLNL.
This position includes a 15% assignment as the Computing Deputy Principal Associate Director for High Performance Computing. In this role you will advise the Computing Principal Associate Director (PAD), participate in Computing senior management meetings and efforts, including strategic planning efforts, and lead the HPC Institutional Scientific Capability Portfolio proposal process for LC.
This position reports programmatically to the Associate Director (AD) within SD and organizationally to the Principal Associate Director (PAD) for Computing.
