Job Summary
Springer Nature is seeking an Associate Process Intelligence Analyst to optimize publication speeds across over 3,000 journals. This full-time hybrid role, based in Dordrecht, Berlin, or Shanghai, involves identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization using data-driven insights. The analyst will support informed decision-making, contribute to cross-functional projects, explore automation solutions, and communicate complex data insights to various stakeholders to improve publishing workflows and reduce turnaround times.
Must Have
- 2–5 years of experience in data science, data analysis, process intelligence, BI, program/project management, or performance optimization
- Demonstrated contributions to improvements in publishing, consulting, tech, or related fields
- Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives and stakeholder engagement
- Familiarity with editorial and production workflows in publishing or a content-driven environment
- Proficiency in analyzing publishing performance metrics, identifying patterns, and drawing meaningful conclusions
- Expertise in Looker, Google BigQuery, Tableau, or Power BI for data extraction, transformation, and visualization
- Ability to model workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions using business process management (BPM) frameworks
- Strong ability to communicate complex data insights to varied audiences, present dashboards and recommendations, and liaise effectively with internal teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Data Science, Strategic Management, Project Management, or a related field

- Master’s degree or PhD in a data-intensive field
- Certifications in PMP, Agile, or Lean Sigma (for levels above Associate)

About the Role
Publication speed is an important decision factor within the article submission process – one of the primary elements authors consider when deciding where to submit. To improve our publication speeds and achieve a significant reduction in turnaround times (TATs), we are seeking an Associate Process Intelligence Analyst.
This role plays a hands-on, supportive part in optimizing the flow of our articles through a publishing pipeline of over 3,000 journals. The (Associate) Process Intelligence Analyst will help identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization within our workflows, using data-driven insights and process analysis to support informed decision-making and change management.
This full-time position is based in Dordrecht, Berlin or Shanghai and offers hybrid working flexibility.
Role Responsibilities
Process Intelligence & Business Insights
- Analyze publishing workflows using data from Looker, Google BigQuery, and other BI tools.
- Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, recommending actionable improvements.
- Support the definition and refinement of KPIs, data definitions, and reporting frameworks to track publishing speed, quality, and author/reviewer/editor experience.
- Create process maps and visualizations to support change initiatives.
Project & Change Management
- Contribute to cross-functional projects to optimize publication pipelines.
- Support data-informed change and promote the adoption of analytics frameworks.
- Assist with stakeholder alignment across Editorial, Production, Technology, and Operations.
Innovation & Automation
- Collaborate with Product and Tech teams to explore automation and AI-driven solutions.
- Support workflow enhancement initiatives to reduce manual effort and errors.
- Monitor the performance impact of implemented changes and suggest refinements.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Present complex data insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Liaise with Editorial, Publishing Performance, Operations, and Technology teams to align priorities.
- Ensure reporting frameworks are transparent, scalable, and actionable.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Experience

Qualifications
