Job Description

The position is within a diverse test facility team, responsible for supporting testing in terms of fuel injection development, validation, and new low carbon technologies. The current scope of the facility includes engine test cells, climatic chambers, thermal vibration rigs, hydraulic rigs, and a test vehicle garage. The successful person must be able to adapt and be part of the changing world of propulsion, having an open and enquiring mind across a diverse facility. We create premium fuel systems, electrical systems and aftermarket parts for internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and industrial applications, aiming for carbon-free combustion.
Must have:
  • Programming and running automated tests on PHINIA developed test rigs
  • Awareness of hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Configure hardware and software - National Instruments (LabVIEW) platform
  • Write/adapt test sequences, ensuring predefined limits are adhered to
  • Capture/check data, do basic analysis, flag anomalies, deliver clear logs/reports
  • Install low voltage sensors (Pressure, Temperature and flow), set up data acquisition (DAQ), perform cell/equipment calibrations and maintain calibration records
  • Diagnose faults, using a known structured approach (8D, 5 why) of mechanical/electrical issues on the units-under-test
  • Maintain quality systems, contribute to risk assessments, work instructions, and new-rig commissioning, as well as small automation upgrades
  • Follow lab safety procedures and stop/report unsafe conditions
  • Test scripting & data processing: National Instruments Signal Express/Diadem or equivalent CAN tools; INCA/MDA; MATLAB/Simulink

Job Purpose

Key Responsibilities

  • Programming and running automated tests on PHINIA developed test rigs
  • Awareness of hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
  • Configure hardware and software - National Instruments (LabVIEW) platform
  • Write/adapt test sequences, ensuring predefined limits are adhered to

  • Committed to following PHINIA health and safety standards, including the proper use of PPE, ensuring personal and team safety

Education

  • HNC and NVQ Level 4 in Mechanical, or Automotive Engineering – Mandatory
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering or related field -Preferably
