Job Summary
The Board Hardware Engineer serves as the project lead, collaborating with board architects on future designs, product managers for customer features, and mechanical engineers for thermal solutions. They work with physical layout and SI engineers to ensure solutions meet parameters, and with the validation team to confirm design specifications. This role also involves creating schematics and functional specifications, interfacing with the firmware team during design bring-up, and providing support for customer issues. The engineer is responsible for interpreting product requirements into electronic schematics and managing Bill of Materials.
Must Have
- Interpret product requirements into electronic schematic information
- Work with component engineering in selecting and approving new components
- Write functional specifications and unit test plans
- Learn company online document control system quickly
- Manipulate Bill of Materials
- Work with physical design for component location and routing constraints
- Perform pre and post simulation of board design
- Manage multiple assignments, keeping stakeholders informed
- Fluent in English for verbal interaction with peers, management, marketing, and customers
- Utilize and coordinate project assignments with contracted design and test services
- Support new and past designs through engineering change orders and problem debug
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of related experience with PCB design and development
- Experience performing high speed PCB designs
- Experience designing and laying out DC/DC regulator circuits
- Experience performing board bring-up, using oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters and soldering tools
- Working knowledge of Cadence-Allegro System Capture and PCB Editor software tools
- Experience with simulation tools such as Cadence Sigrity PowerDC, OptimizePI, LTSPICE/PSPICE
- Familiarity with common bus protocols such as DDR4, PCIe, UART, I2C, SPI and USB
- Proficiency in MS-Office (Excel, Word, Visio) and Google (Sheets, Docs)

- Experience using Python, C, TCL, VHDL, Verilog, Github
- Microcontroller programming
- High current DC/DC design and layout
- Test Equipment: TDR and VNA
- Experience using and following checklists
- Experience performing board layout, PCB Stack up design

The Board Hardware Engineer functions as the project lead engineer that works with the board architect on future designs, the product manager for customer requested features, mechanical engineering on thermal solutions, physical layout engineers as well as the SI engineers to ensure the solution meets requested parameters, validation team to make sure the design meets the design parameters, and customer support when specific issues need to be addressed. The engineer also will create the schematic and functional specification and interface with the firmware team when bringing up a design.
Key Responsibilities:
The board design engineer functions as the project engineer that:
- Interprets product requirement information into electronic schematic information
- Works with component engineering in selecting and approving new components
- Writes functional specifications and unit test plans
- Can learn quickly company online document control system
- Manipulates Bill of Materials
- Works with physical design to determine location of components and routing constraints
- Can do pre and post simulation of the board design
- Works on multiple assignments keeping marketing and management informed of progress and roadblocks
- Is fluent in the English language, able to interact verbally with peers, management, marketing and customers in person or on the phone
- Is able to utilize and coordinate some project assignments with contracted design and test services
- Supports new and past designs through engineering change orders and problem debug
Required Skills:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of related experience with PCB design and development
- Experience performing high speed PCB designs

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $91,000 - $146,000.
This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
