SI Hardware Engineer

The SI Hardware Engineer at Broadcom will focus on designing printed circuit board assemblies for commercial server and cloud systems. This role involves technical leadership, integrating requirements from customers, industry standards, and electronic components. Key responsibilities include interfacing with designers and vendors, generating PCB stack-up recommendations, specifying board layout topologies, simulating designs, and performing physical correlation experiments. The engineer will apply strong knowledge of major computer industry standards like PCIe Express, Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and SAS.

Must Have

• Interface with board designers, ASIC/SerDes controller designers, program management, board vendors and component vendors.
• Generate PCB stack up recommendations.
• Specify a board layout topology and constraints.
• Simulate both system level and segment levels of the design.
• Perform physical correlation experiments to confirm the design.
• Solid knowledge of electromagnetics, transmission line theory and scattering parameters.
• Experience with HyperLynx, Ansoft SIWave and HFSS, ADS, Sigrity, PowerSI and PowerDC, and Polar stack up.
• Experience with PAM-4 PCIe Gen 6, 100G Ethernet SerDes interfaces.
• Experience with PCIe and OCP form factors using 8 to 18 layer stack ups.
• Experience with Multi-lane cross talk analysis.
• Proficiency with MSOffice tool suite.
• Experience with Servers (Windows / Linux), scopes, traffic generators, environmental chambers, Keysight VNA/TDR.
• BSc. in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years experience Or MSc. in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years of experience Or Phd and 3+ years of experience.
• Strong working knowledge of PCIe Express, Ethernet, Fibre Channel and SAS.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,000 - $172,800

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
