Job Summary

As a Business Intelligence Engineer at S&P Global, you will design, develop, and optimize data solutions for the People function and broader enterprise. Leveraging Snowflake, SQL, and Python, you will build scalable analytics, ensure data quality, and empower stakeholders with robust reporting and visualization tools. You will lead initiatives to analyze complex business problems, create interactive dashboards, manage ETL/ELT workflows, and ensure data integrity, contributing to intelligent decision-making and business outcomes.

Must Have

  • Lead initiatives to analyze complex business problems and build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and DAX.
  • Implement and manage ETL/ELT workflows using SQL on Snowflake data lake.
  • Create and enforce protocols to ensure data integrity, compliance, and adherence to established standards.
  • Partner with business users, analysts, and leadership to deliver efficient, data-driven solutions.
  • Develop scalable automated processes and scripts to enhance efficiency in data handling and reporting.
  • Identify and address issues related to data quality and operational performance in the BI environment.
  • Train and onboard end-users to effectively utilize reporting tools and self-service BI solutions.
  • Proven experience with Snowflake data lake and advanced SQL.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and DAX.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong data visualization and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Good to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Visualisation, or Analytics.
  • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Databricks, Visier).
  • Experience with Python scripting for automation, data manipulation, and integration with machine learning workflows.
  • Experience within a People function, Financial Services or regulated institution and/or working with sensitive data.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD for engineering or BI solutions.
  • Experience in agile (Azure DevOps/JIRA) or cross-functional teams.

The Impact:

As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions that drive actionable insights for our People function and broader enterprise. You will leverage our Snowflake data lake, SQL, and Python to build scalable analytics, ensure data quality, and empower business stakeholders with robust reporting and visualization tools.

The Team:

You’ll join the Organizational Planning & Analytics team, which leads the People function’s data strategy, analytics, and workforce planning capabilities. We are dedicated to innovation and excellence in data governance, AI+ data readiness, and building a people data ecosystem that supports intelligent decision-making and business outcomes.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Reporting & Analytics: Lead initiatives to analyze complex business problems and build interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and DAX, delivering actionable analytics to business leaders and stakeholders.
  • Design & Develop Data Pipelines: Implement and manage ETL/ELT workflows using SQL, integrating diverse data sources on our Snowflake data lake.
  • Data Quality & Compliance: Create and enforce protocols to ensure data integrity, compliance, and adherence to established standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business users, analysts, and leadership to understand requirements and deliver efficient, data-driven solutions.
  • Automation & Workflow Improvement: Develop scalable automated processes and scripts to enhance efficiency in data handling and reporting that are cost effective.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and address issues related to data quality and operational performance in the BI environment.
  • Stakeholder Enablement: Train and onboard end-users to effectively utilize reporting tools and self-service BI solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with Snowflake data lake (or similar cloud data lake platform) and advanced SQL for data integration, modelling, and analytics.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and DAX for dashboard and report development.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong data visualization and storytelling skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
