Job Description

The Procurement Manager will support the Head of Procurement, Content & Editorial and Revenue to maximise value from spend while balancing other business requirements, including quality, service, risk, and security of supply in all markets, across the full bandwidth of goods and services. This role is part of a Global Procurement community. Responsibilities include liaising with global brands, legal, finance, and stakeholders to deliver best practice and build joint Category Strategies. The manager will lead high-quality, innovative, and intelligence-led procurement across Revenue areas, challenging existing delivery models and ensuring corporate objectives are met, contributing to Condé Nast’s wider business vision.
Must have:
  • Support the Head of Procurement, Content & Editorial and Revenue to maximise value from spend.
  • Balance business requirements including quality, service, risk, and security of supply.
  • Be part of a Global Procurement community, working alongside other Procurement Managers.
  • Assist in liaising with global brands, legal, finance, and wider stakeholders/partners.
  • Deliver and share best practice, participate in skills and knowledge transfer.
  • Encourage and build joint Category Strategies.
  • Lead high-quality, innovative, and intelligence-led procurement across Revenue areas.
  • Work closely with customers to challenge existing delivery models.
  • Ensure corporate objectives and service needs are met.
  • Deliver the vision of being a centre of excellence in commercial procurement.
  • Actively contribute towards Condé Nast’s wider business vision and ambition.
  • Work closely with the Procurement Leadership Team (PLT), providing global and market insights.
  • Help design and develop a procurement and strategic sourcing strategy.
  • Work with customers and stakeholders to scope, plan and deliver overall category strategies.
  • Support and drive change management initiatives to drive strategic procurement decisions.
  • Develop and plan programmes and activities to support brands and functions.
  • Become intelligent customers when engaging with suppliers.
  • Lead and coordinate initiatives to bring together employees to analyse third-party spend.
  • Identify the most appropriate and effective approach for third-party spend.
  • Ensure executive sponsorship and robust governance of category management.
  • Ensure coordination of activity and knowledge sharing across the category and wider services.
  • Work with the business to conduct strategic reviews of individual suppliers and categories.
  • Use high-quality market and supplier intelligence to develop strategies.
  • Ensure framework and mechanisms are in place to monitor, review, and validate contract and supplier performance data.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and challenge on performance reviews, including supplier KPIs.
  • Deliver and lead knowledgeable and professional procurement support.
  • Ensure processes are efficient and effective, adopting best practices techniques.
  • Undertake external research and analysis, identifying best practice.
  • Assess potential synergies with other critical and strategic contracts and collaborative opportunities.
  • Develop and use intelligence on the current supply base, market, and financial data.
  • Design and lead market shaping and development activities.
  • Participate in stakeholder engagement and consultation activities.
  • Plan and lead negotiations with the supplier on all major commercial issues.
  • Add strategic value to the contract by influencing negotiations regarding contractual changes.
  • Ensure value for money and introduce best practice processes.
  • Plan, prepare and ensure timely delivery of sourcing activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Condé Nast processes for tender, evaluation, contract mobilisation, and management.
  • Building strong relationships with Executive/Senior Leadership colleagues and other key stakeholders
  • Strong business acumen with high-level of numerical, literacy and analytical skills
  • Experience of managing procurement exercises in a large, complex and matrixed organisation
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of global contract and commercial negotiations and the rationale underpinning it
  • A relevant professional qualification such as MCIPS or an international equivalent
  • Degree or equivalent level of international qualification
  • Skilled in identifying procurement strategies and tendering processes for operational and tactical contracts
  • Proven experience of effective written and verbal communication at the highest levels, including public speaking and preparation of complex written reports
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to identify and negotiate terms and conditions, contractor performance milestones, and a method to monitor and report performance.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong customer focus and actively listens to customers to ensure excellent services are provided
  • Able to challenge and interpret complex management and financial data and use this to make decisions that deliver the best possible commercial solution.
  • Passion for delivering quality, measurable services with a proven ability to set and deliver realistic, coordinated objectives in accordance with agreed priorities
  • Professionally represent the department, directorate, and Condé Nast in liaison with other service areas and through working with a variety of external organisations
  • Able to take a flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving, developing alternative approaches to resolving issues and mitigating risks

The Role

The Procurement Manager will support the Head of Procurement, Content & Editorial and Revenue to maximise value from spend while balancing other business requirements, including quality, service, risk, and security of supply in all markets, across the full bandwidth of goods and services. You will be part of a Global Procurement community working alongside four Procurement Managers based in Europe and five based in our global markets.

In addition to the above, they will assist in liaising with global brands, legal, finance and wider stakeholders/partners to deliver and share best practice. Participate in skills and knowledge transfer and encourage and build joint Category Strategies.

You will be responsible for leading high-quality, innovative, and intelligence-led procurement across the Revenue areas of the business. Working closely with customers to challenge existing delivery models, ensure corporate objectives and service needs are met, whilst working to deliver our vision of being a centre of excellence in commercial procurement. The role will actively contribute towards Condé Nast’s wider business vision and ambition.

What will you be doing?

  • Work closely with the Procurement Leadership Team (PLT), providing global and market insights to help design and develop a procurement and strategic sourcing strategy
  • Work with customers and stakeholders to scope, plan and deliver overall category strategies
  • Support and drive change management initiatives to drive strategic procurement decisions
  • Develop and plan programmes and activities to support brands and functions to become intelligent customers when engaging with suppliers
  • Lead and coordinate initiatives to bring together employees from different parts of the organisation to analyse and review third-party spend, and identify the most appropriate and effective approach
  • Ensure executive sponsorship and robust governance of category management at key decision-making stages.
  • Ensure the coordination of activity and knowledge sharing across the category, wider services and beyond, through regular, formal and informal communication and collaboration with the other Procurement Managers and teams
  • Work with the business to conduct strategic reviews of individual suppliers and categories, using high-quality market and supplier intelligence to develop strategies that deliver breakthrough results
  • Ensure that the framework and mechanisms are in place to monitor, review, and validate contract and supplier performance data.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and challenge on performance reviews, including the review of supplier KPIs.
  • Deliver and lead knowledgeable and professional procurement support, ensuring processes are efficient and effective, adopting best practices techniques to ensure the very highest quality service that delivers true value for our customers.
  • Undertake external research and analysis, ensuring the identification of best practice, and assessing potential synergies with other critical and strategic contracts and wider collaborative opportunities.
  • Develop and use intelligence on the current supply base, market, and financial data
  • Design and lead market shaping and development activities, participate in stakeholder engagement and consultation activities
  • Plan and lead negotiations with the supplier on all major issues regarding commercial elements of the contract. Add strategic value to the contract by influencing negotiations regarding any contractual changes, ensuring value for money and introducing best practice processes.
  • Plan, prepare and ensure the timely delivery of sourcing activities, including tender process and documentation, evaluation criteria, and the contract mobilisation and contract management framework, to ensure compliance with Condé Nast processes.
