Job Summary
DON’T NOD is looking for a Cinematic Director F/H/X to strengthen our team on an Action-RPG project, this position is open for a freelance or intermittent contract. Reporting to the Executive Producer, your role will be to lead the creation of cinematic content for our game. You will be responsible for directing in-game cinematics, supervising the cinematic team, defining technical and artistic means for creation and shooting, and validating cinematics. You will also define the cinematic vision, design and supervise cinematics, ensure consistency with gameplay, direct motion capture shoots, and oversee editing and retouching.
Must Have
- Direct in-game cinematics
- Supervise and mentor the cinematic team
- Define technical and artistic means for cinematic creation and shooting
- Validate cinematics
- Define the game's cinematic vision in collaboration with creative direction
- Design and supervise cinematics (storyboard, staging, animation)
- Ensure consistency between cinematics and gameplay
- Direct staging and motion capture shoots
- Supervise and verify editing and retouching
- Write guidelines and pipelines for project teams
- Ensure quality of deliverables, adherence to deadlines and budget
- Manage the Camera Artist team
- Experience as a director in video games (staging, storyboarding, actor direction, editing, narrative logic)
- Leadership skills (decision-making, argumentation, feedback, team building, supervision)
- Knowledge of a game engine, ideally Unreal Engine 5
- Strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills
- Adaptability and solution-oriented approach

- Design and supervise cinematics: storyboard, staging, animation (...)
- Ensure consistency between cinematics and gameplay
- Direct staging and motion capture shoots

- Ensure the quality of deliverables, adherence to deadlines and budget
- Manage the Camera Artist team: lead and organize their activities, provide individual support
Qualifications
- Experience as a director in video games: staging, storyboarding, actor direction, editing and directing techniques, narrative logic
- Leadership: decision-making, ability to argue, formulate feedback and recommendations, ability to unite and build trust with teams, team supervision and support
- Knowledge of a game engine, ideally Unreal Engine 5
- Communication, listening and teamwork, to collaborate effectively with all trades involved in the project
- Adaptability and quick understanding of team challenges and constraints, solution-oriented
