Job Description

The Compliance Officer for South Europe will evaluate, analyze, and develop business processes to implement and enhance cost-effective standard operating procedures. This role involves auditing existing procedures for effectiveness and compliance, investigating and developing solutions to operational business needs, and ensuring business operations support the strategic plan. Key responsibilities include monitoring regulatory compliance, developing and implementing compliance procedures, conducting risk assessments, providing training, overseeing monitoring and reporting, and collaborating cross-functionally to integrate compliance considerations into business processes.
Good To Have:
  • Certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional - CCEP).
  • Advanced degrees such as Corporate Governance.

  • Conduct audits and risk assessments to ensure adherence to internal and external regulations.
  • Provide training and education programs to employees and stakeholders on compliance requirements.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and integrity within the organization.
  • Oversee compliance monitoring programs and investigate any reported breaches or concerns.
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports to relevant area management and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Work closely with legal, operational, corporate and business teams to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into their business processes.
  • Support new business initiatives by assessing compliance implications.
  • Manage investigations into compliance violations and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure timely resolution of compliance-related issues and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with Country Management/Legal Representatives/PoA.
  • Manage and represent the company in its day-to-day operations (BoD/AD Italia roles).

Job Description

Main goals:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and analyze relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards across South European countries. Ensure the organization complies with local, regional, and international regulatory requirements. Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies and authorities in the region.
  • Compliance procedures development and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to South Europe. Conduct regular reviews and updates of compliance frameworks to address regulatory changes.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential compliance risks and implement measures to mitigate them.
  • Conduct audits and risk assessments to ensure adherence to internal and external regulations.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide training and education programs to employees and stakeholders on compliance requirements. Promote a culture of compliance and integrity within the organization.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Oversee compliance monitoring programs and investigate any reported breaches or concerns. Prepare and submit compliance reports to relevant area management and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with legal, operational, corporate and business teams to ensure compliance considerations are integrated into their business processes.
  • Support new business initiatives by assessing compliance implications.
  • Incident Management: Manage investigations into compliance violations and recommend corrective actions. Ensure timely resolution of compliance-related issues and maintain accurate records.
  • Country Management/Legal Representatives/ PoA collaboration. To ensure collaboration in the region a Committee will be created to share knowledge and challenges. Monthly meetings will be handled.
  • BoD/ AD Italia roles - manage and represent the company in its day-to-day operations. This includes executing decisions made by the shareholders' meeting, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and acting in the best interest of the company. The role will have the authority to sign contracts, manage financial operations, and oversee the general administration of the company, based on the powers granted by the company's bylaws (statuto) or the shareholders' resolution.

Basic Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or related field. Certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional - CCEP) is a plus.
  • Advanced degrees such as Corporate Governance is a highly valued.
  • Knowledge of South European legal and regulatory environments (e.g., GDPR, anti-corruption laws, industry-specific regulations).

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of proven experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs, preferably within a multinational corporation or a highly regulated industry such as finance, healthcare, or technology.
  • Demonstrated expertise in navigating South Europe’s legal and regulatory frameworks, including GDPR, anti-corruption laws, and industry-specific standards.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and driving compliance strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Excellent communication (English/ Italian/ 3rd South Europe language) and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity and ethical judgment.

  • Proficiency in English and at least one South European language (e.g., Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, etc.).
