Job Description

Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chip and display manufacturing. This role offers a Computing System Support Engineer the opportunity to provide global hardware/system support for products at customer sites, working with R&D, SW, HW, and Application teams. The position involves resolving complex computing issues, participating in new development, performing on-site installations and upgrades, and developing support infrastructure.
Must have:
  • Function as a technical support Tier for Computing issues
  • Independently resolve complex customer issues by analyzing product and systematic issues (HW, IT, databases, network, storage)
  • Provide troubleshooting plans and technical solutions
  • Reproduce customer issues and find the root cause
  • Proactively identify points of failure and drive for resolution
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Computing Technical Support or similar Tier 3 position at major OEMs
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, prioritization, and organization skills
  • Proven experience as a network/server engineer
  • Proven experience with Microsoft/Linux operating systems
  • Team player with fantastic communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent English – verbal and written
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or other technical degree
Good to have:
  • Previous experience as Professional Services Engineer
  • Previous experience as Post Sales Engineer
  • Previous experience as Technical Account Manager

We are looking for a highly talented Computing system Support Engineer to join our unique team.

What’s in it for you?

Provide Computing HW/System Support for our products installed at customer sites around the world, working with global support functions, R&D , SW, HW and Application teams to make sure our tools function as designed.

What you'll be doing:

  • Function as a technical support Tier for Computing issues
  • Work on all field Computing escalations that don’t require design changes
  • Independently resolve customer complex issues by analyzing product and systematic issues (HW, IT, databases, network, storage)
  • Provide troubleshooting plans and technical solutions
  • Reproduce customer issues, find the root cause
  • Proactively identify points of failure, and drive for resolution
  • Involvement in new Computing development s
  • Take part in Computing HW development road map milestones, new features and components reviews and demos
  • Provide support-related inputs to be included in next versions
  • Participate in new products introduction
  • On-site Projects:
  • Perform new installations and upgrades
  • Troubleshoot complex cases and support local teams.
  • Support Infrastructure:
  • Develop training programs for field engineers
  • Proactively drive support-related features development
  • Initiate Support-related Specs, improvements, utilities
  • Document solutions, procedures, best known methods

What you should have?

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Computing Technical Support or a position of similar as Tier 3 at major OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer, like Dell, HP, IBM, NetApp,…)

•    Excellent time management, decision-making, prioritization and organization skills.

•    Proven experience as a network/server engineer.

  • Proven experience with Microsoft/ Linux operating systems.

•    Team player with fantastic communication and collaboration skills

•    Excellent English – verbal and written

•     Willingness to travel up to 30%

•    Required education: Bachelor / master’s degree in computer science and / or engineering and/or other technical degree

Advantage: previous experience as Professional Services/Post Sales Engineer/Technical Account Manager
