Job Summary
Applied Materials is seeking a Product Configuration Management Engineer to ensure the integrity of product BOMs and system configurations. This role involves planning and executing configuration management across the development lifecycle, guiding cross-functional teams through the Engineering Change process, and determining proper product configurations based on industry standards and customer specifications. The engineer will establish and maintain complex system BOMs, ensure accurate documentation, and lead BOM master plan meetings for NPI and SPI projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Must Have
- Establish and maintain highly complex system BOM.
- Ensure documentation accuracy for item, module, or system configuration.
- Perform detailed engineering change management activities in PLM system.
- Work closely with project managers and multiple groups across the organization.
- Maximize platform modularity, configurability, commonality, and serviceability/maintainability.
- Participate in project team meetings, including formal design reviews.
- Lead periodic NPI and SPI projects BOM master plan meetings.
- Perform advanced data analysis to identify and correct master data errors.
- B.Sc. in an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with complex products, preferably configuration management.
- Familiarity with manufacturing, field installation & support aspects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PLM & ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Engineering standards development.
- Excellent English skills – speak, write, read.

Product Configuration Management Engineer
We are looking for product configuration Engineer to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact our products BOM and systems configuration integrity.
What’s in it for you?
You will play a key role in the planning, and execution on all aspects of configuration management for each phase of the development lifecycle.
Other duties will include guiding cross-functional teams through the Engineering Change process.
Many of our products are designed to industry standards and customer specifications. These requirements are determined by reviewing the specifications, and it requires you to use critical thinking skills to determine proper configuration to the product.
Our group:
Our group is responsible for the creation and configuration management of all products’ BOM, this includes both SPI and NPI projects
Our products contain thousands of items from different disciplines- The group members incorporate items from multidisciplinary fields (Physics, Control, Electronics, Mechanics, Optics & SW) into advance technology product’s BOM.
What be you’ll doing?
- Establish and maintain highly complex system BOM that insures product's performance and functionality.
- Ensures that documentation (e.g., requirements, design, test, and acceptance documentation) for item, module or system is accurate and reflects their true configuration**.
- End to End responsibility for the BOM release process -Performs detailed engineering change management activities in the company’s PLM system.
- Work closely in the early stages of product development with the project managers and multiple groups across the organization (Elec, Mech, Motion, Computing, SW, Operation, Manufacturing, Marketing & Support) In order to maximize platform modularity, configurability, commonality and serviceability/maintainability.
- Participates in project team meetings, including formal design reviews.
- Lead periodic NPI and SPI projects BOM master plan meetings.
- Involvement and support key manufacturing initiatives, including Kaizen events, value stream map events, safety improvements and labor efficiency improvements.
- Performs advanced data analysis to identify master data errors and performs necessary actions to correct data error or inconsistencies. Then creates or modifies Engineering systems or standards to prevent recurrence.
- Keeps your manager and other stakeholders appraise of project BOM status and ongoing issues.
What should you have?
- B.Sc. in an Engineering discipline
- Min 5 years of experience with complex products- preferably configuration management engineer
- Familiarity with manufacturing, field installation & support aspects
- Demonstrated knowledge of PLM & ERP systems.
- Knowledge of Engineering standards development.
- Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication - Excellent English skills – speak, write, read.
